just wondering how many people out there try to roleplay their int.

as in no Orlach going off and writing long essays on planar theory (or whatever) as their race, the krokani and igasho (i think) all have the lowest possible intelligence (without afflictions)

Roleplaying a character smarter and more intelligent than yourself - now that's a challenge. wink.gif

Though I do not interact very well with him at all, Daganev is quite good at embracing that aspect of his race. He even went so far as to hire a scribe if I remember correctly, because he was playing his character as too illiterate to write.

I think he deserves a fair bit of credit for that.
Saran2005-08-30 11:54:02
woo go Daganev, and thats the idea. but there are some people i believe who are members of these extremely strong but unintelligent races, who still act smart even though their characters race might be a little slow.

As a general proponent, and side argument to this, I'd just like to mention that intelligence != common sense. As such, while Nayl may not be able to write a billion page essay documenting the reasons why Forest+Taint=Fun, she can argue her arse off on it.

However, when Daganev was a tae'dae, his player would come up with brilliant...ly stupid things for him to do(try). I find it quite hilarious, the speech impediment was a bit of a worry to start, but when I realised I could take anything he said as if he was taking the piss (Ask, don't laugh), then it was all good.

generally common sense comes under wisdom anyway.

I think Murphy and Shiro are really convincing at roleplaying the least intelligent race of the game.

It's easier to do in a realspace RPG where you have a (generally) variable ratio of real time to game time, and that ratio is usually very high in favor of real time -- so you can use that extra time (e.g., between sessions) to think slowly of things your character could think of much more quickly. That's not a perfect simulation of being smarter, of course. But it's good enough to fool an audience who's willing to suspend disbelief.

In a MUD, the time ratio goes the other way, working against you on this.

You broke my sarcasm meter.
Could we all please drop the sarc'?
It's starting to annoy even me, Goddess of Taking the Piss.

Yes, O Mighty Goddess. No more sarcasm by Your Decree, Esteemed One.

I don't roleplay my race as stupid, with idiotic impediments or doing stupid crap. Murphy is more prone to getting pissed off at people, and also running into to combat regardless of odds.

I see orclach as very warlike, without much regard for willey tactics or stuffing around, we just get in there and smash it up

go speak to avarath or korath, both of them are orclach and very very warlike, I do take some cues off them for blunt agression.

The intelligence of a race isn't necessarily what we commonly think of as intelligence, it's more to do with how connected they are to the magical energies of the world, and how powerful their mental willpower is. It doesn't mean they're stupid.

Some very intelligent people can flake under any mental pressure.

That's how I always treat it, it's just weird to see it called "intelligence."

Roleplaying intelligence is fun, but furrikin are about average I would say. Smart enough to not be stupid. -nodme-

Joli has a more furrikin accent that she never uses anymore.
Several people told me to stop.. and after a while I just dropped it. No use of having an accent that's more trouble to keep up with if you're going to constantly hear about it.
