I'm a old Achaea player, looking for a change. I'm liking what I've seen so far in Lusternia. I chose to try out the Moondancers since I played one for a few days in the beta.
I was just wondering if someone could explain Healing, Hexes and Astrology for me. I take it healing is like the one we have over in Achaea? Hexes sound like Curses as far as I know. But I've also heard something about setting them up in rooms and whatnot. And I know basically nothing about Astrology, exept what's in the help file.
I've never been a defensive player and from what I've managed to gather from searching arround the forums and reading old posts most people seem to think that Healing is the best choice.
Thanks.

Depends on what you want to do really, are you going to engage in alot of PvP ect ect. Astrology is awesome for non pvp(its not the best suited), hexes on the other hand is retardedly good as mugwump, and healing is good all round..

I haven't decided if I'm going to be sticking arround yet. But I assume I would get into PK alot once I got my might and levels up.
Tell me about the skills in general and then from different perspectives?
Why is Hexes so much better for Mugwumps? The uber fast eq?

Yeah, you can throw them damn fast. If you plan on getting into PVP, I suggest starting off with healing for its basics and go a tankier race so you can bash up to around level 60-70, then switch to Mugwump and go hexes. I am sure a Moondancer can give better advice, its just what I would do.

Healing is good for defensive stuff, lets you heal and cure afflictions. And in addition has Bedevil at trans. Hexes is purely offensive, you have to draw a hex (not sure on eq for that - 3-4 seconds, probably) before flinging it. You can use these by enemying people, which'll mean hexes hit them when they walk into the room/when the hexes are pushed into the room with them.
Astrology is complex as and works off the date, or your target's birthdate. It has a lot of potential, but the complexity is it's shortcoming. It you to give stat adjustments, damage resistance/weaknesses, and also afflictions.
I can put it like this - Healing is easy to use, but other than bedevil, purely defensive. Hexes is purely offensive, but unwieldy at times, as you have to draw then hex. Astrology is a mixture of defensive and offensive, with the main shortcomings being the preparation needed, in knowing the positions of the stars, and your target's nativity, and the complexity inherent in the way this affects it.

I would suggest healing where you are newer to the realms, and out of Newton you can encounter quite a few afflictions and it will be easier to adjust to it.

It really isn't that complex once you get a few things sorted out in your head though :S. I have a nice spreadsheet someone sent me that helps a lot.

I don't know about healing, it sounds nice...and easy, but also very useful. Hexes are great for when you do want to go on a PVP spree, and like everyone has said, the nasty part is waiting for your equ to come back due to the whole having to draw them out. I actually had picked astrology first, and I tried to look it up every day....and that was a load of work, not only that but I suppose I just didn't have the patience to actually go anywhere with it. I went to hexes, and I'm not sorry to have done so.

By the by, Estarra mentioned that it's the same time, in total, to draw and fling, as it was to curse.

If you want hexes, be a mugwump. Healing is sucky if you want to PvP at all. Astrology is like some really good effects that last aaages (like 50 minutes of -2 INT for an opponent, say) plus like half the hexes skill, where the hexes you get vary day by day. It's not so much complex as annoying to use because most of the time the affliction combinations you want aren't there. Spheres make it worth it though.
Ashteru2005-08-31 00:48:56
I heard one of the three variations of the trans skill is with asthma and anorexia...that really IS good...

Join celest, they need the help.
*cough*
Anyway - healing is awsome cause from what I understand, it takes no eq or balance - you just need them, and mana.
Hexes, i dont know, but seems like with a mugwump you can get affs off really fast.
Astrology has potential, cause most skills have a possibility of giving a number of afflictions, but it seems to me like its hard to get the affs you want.
For offence, I would go with Hexes.

Mugwump + Hexes = teh pwn.
If you have doublewhammy, you can give two masked afflictions simultaneously. If the person doesn't have focus mind - a fabled-level skill - then you can instantly lock them using anorexia + asthma and then beat the living crap out of them using other afflictions/crone (a Moondancer ent). It's literally that simple!
... But I'd recommend going to Magnagora. They have a more PvP-friendly atmosphere.

Moondancers, however, take excellent care of novices and folk otherwise new to things. We've also got friendly people you can ask about combative stuff as a Moondancer (not me ... I'm good at the basics for novices, not for the combat). And, I remember you!

Yahuh. we're fast, but pitifully weak in the other various fields. As a Viscanti, total Eq cost including drawing the hex was about.. hmm.. 5 seconds, to doublewhammy? Now it's down to 3. Which is lovely. Just warriors with lightning runes and Aquamancers will toast you. You can also lock pretty damn quickly at trans hexes and they won't even notice until they try something. Standard move, but anorexia/asthma then impatience/paralyse. Laugh and as they cure all that, hit them with various other goodies. Those two comboes might gain you, say, 6 seconds if you're lucky, but it's enough.

Moondancers are, in fact, pure evil. Ignore them or they'll eat your soul. Join the Nihilists. God, please join the Nihilists. We have no novices! Well, we have one.

Then why are you at the bottom of topguilds?
DON'T CHECK. I know you're bottom. I can sense it.
Using my uncanny fifth sense.
Tsuki2005-08-31 03:01:59
Tell your uncanny sense to stop standing upside-down, perhaps?
Sylphas2005-08-31 03:03:41
Drawing hexes is a base eq time of 2 seconds, I'm pretty sure. Drawing/throwing together is base 4. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly.
