Buying credits from a general IRE account

Since this has to do with IRE in general, I figured I'd post this question/idea here instead of in Ideas.

Has there been any talk of IRE starting up a general account? As I was trying to decide how many credits to buy, I started thinking: What if I could create an account, link all of my characters from all of my games to it and buy credits from that account. That way it could be easier for me to disperse them to other the characters I have in the other games and maybe easily give credits to other players (for gifts, payment for systems, etc). The way I figure, OOCly the credits cost the same - I just checked up to 100 credits, though. So this would only affect credits bought with real life money.

Is this a decent idea, or would this be too much trouble than its worth?

I think you'll get a no, because credit funds go to that particular MUD's bank account. I'm uncertain if credit prices are Estarra's to set or not, as far as RL money goes.

But, credits bought only goes to Lusternia - while credits bought in Aetolia only goes to Aetolia, etc etc. IRE I BELIEVE collects stippends from all the MUDs (At least, I assume) and thus manages it's own pay.

Yeah, the head god gets a portion of the sales, that would irritate a few people. tongue.gif

I think the way she actually intends it, though, is as she transfers, say, 100 credits to her alt in Aetolia, the aetolian bank account gets the money for those 100 credits, like she bought them.

However, this would allow you to buy in bulk, and you personally save - while cheating all of the realms in one fell swoop. IRE is a business, and even as a player, I wouldn't support it. It'd just be, well, bad business practice.

Yea, that's basically what I was getting at. Just an easy was to manage credits.

I see what you mean - but my point still stands, you'ld be paying one set price, and I'm unsure if Lusternia offers different prices for credits than Achaea. I think their bigcredit buys are different, but I'm unsure - I imagine they might be between MUDs, which you'ld then be forcing them to all sell at the same price, and you'ld still be cheating.

You'ld buy 2,000 credits, for, say, 500 bucks. And give 1,000 to your imperian, and 1,000 to your achaean. To buy 1,000 credits on either MUD is, like, 225 bucks. So, you'ld spend 500 bucks on what would have cost you 550 bucks, in theory buying 1,000 credits at a per credit price from a higher level buy - the more credits you buy, the cheaper they are per-credit.

See what I'm saying? I'm uncertain if prices are uniform in all IRE games or not.

I believe they are.

The only way this could work is if you bought credits from one game, and there was an in game command to transfer x credits to .

hmm perhaps this would work if the credits cost more for that service
like an "administration fee" and the money for the credits divided amongst the realms based on who got them.
BUT it propably would be possible to transfer the credits once sent to a realm
Unknown2005-08-31 13:24:07
A fee for the service would be a good idea. You usually pay for the convenience, anyway. Also, once the credits are transferred, you can't doing anything to them. Like I said, I only checked the prices up to 100 credits and they are the same OOCly in each game. IG credits prices vary so they can't be transferred this way - you'd be on your own then.

But still, you'ld be cheating the system. If you buy, say, 1,000 credits, you're only paying like, 30 cents a credit. If you buy 100 credits, you're paying like, 40 cents a credit, or some such. =\\ You'ld be asking for a lot of work, when you could just go to each realm and buy the character you wanna buy 'em for 100 credits. It'd probably be cheaper, and less work for everyone involved.

I just wanted to point out that 225*2 is only 450. Which would make it cheaper overall to purchase them seperately.

Endlessnite, was the point to be able to buy the largest bulk possible, or to be able to micromanage how many credits you have in each game? My understanding was that it's the latter, but I just wanted to clarify. If it is indeed, I would suggest just buying the next largest amount and selling them off in-game.

Those numbers were fictitional, because I didn't feel like looking them up.

Yessir, you have it right. When I frist had the idea I thought the games where connected. I was thinking only of convienance. I see exactly where you and Ye Of Little Faith are coming from, though. Thanks for the suggestion, too.
