What makes a Paladin a Paladin, and not an Ur'Guard? Sacraments.
What makes an Ebonguard an Ebonguard and not a Serenguard? Night/Crow.
It's those skills that separate us.

Sweet. And now the last two are gone as well.

...
The Ur'guard, Paladins, Serenguard, and Ebonguard, just had a dump taken on their roleplaying.
I mean, the skillsets themselves seem cool. But... ah, who the hell knows, it's still too early.

Our roleplay has been devoted to the spirits which we serve... the spirits in the Totems skillset, and the Greater Spirits which we could follow above them.
I assume that we are allowed to say "Any member found choosing this skill and forsaking our spirits will be removed," hm? It is roleplay, after all, and the spirits are WHAT MAKES US WHAT WE ARE.

That'd require them to roleplay.

I can see you running around your house screaming right now.
Silvenae2005-09-03 03:27:09
Oh, hush.
I fail to see any incentive if you're just going to whine when they release new skills. I'm sure you'll figure something out. Think outside the box.

Warriors are meant to be the most versatile archetype. If you want to keep Necromancy/Sacraments/Totems... don't take hunting.
Silvenae2005-09-03 03:28:52
If hunting/tracking replaces totems for the Ebonguard/Serenguard, why can't ecology replace totems for the Blacktalon and Hartstone? Dreamweaving > Totems.

I think people are just batshite wide-eyed at the moment as to the direction things are apparently being pushed by the Admin. No one is whining that there is a new skill. They're just confused to high Nil why things they've until recently identified with as core aspects of their persona now have little actual meaning.
Xenthos2005-09-03 03:29:53

Who is pushing anyone anywhere? As you've all been saying, we've been working to try and get things the way it was intended to be at openening. You continue to complain when we release new things, but complain if it takes too long to release the new things that you want to complain about having...
Estarra, lets not work 20+ hours a day to finish new projects, it is obviously not appreciated.

If working 20+ hours a day involves destroying multiple hours of work put in by your players... perhaps you shouldn't. I realize this is harsh, but it's how I feel at this moment.
Rhysus2005-09-03 03:35:11
You're missing the point entirely, Hajamin. We can't help that you're taking kneejerk reactions to a stupefied lack of understanding in the motivation behind the choices you guys have made as not appreciating that fact that you're working hard for the game. I don't know why you would. People are just confused.
Silvenae2005-09-03 03:35:33
Dude, you guys.
The mage guilds in Achaea had the EXACT SAME SKILLS and they were VERY DIFFERNT.
The same can be said for the serpent guilds and the monk guilds, amongst others.
It's entirely possible to roleplay without certain skills. The skills do not define your roleplay, YOU DO. Nothing you've done is destroyed.

Daevos2005-09-03 03:35:47
Ok, I've gotten over the fact that Paladins and Ur'guard must forgo the skills that make them what they are in order to take Hunting because it can be RPed. What I don't understand is why the Serenguard and Ebonguard can learn hunting to see. Since the teachers of the warrior skills both hated the communes and I seriously doubt they would have taught them.
