I'd just like to point out, Tracking is not made for Merians, Viscanti, Faelings, or Elfen, in their respective communes. It just wasn't. It was really made for igasho, krokani, orclach, and dwarves - as well as any other non-specialization race. The people most hurt by this, I think, are Serenguard and Ur'Guard. Lacking Lich and Resurgem sarks.

However, it's counter-part, Ecology, is awesome.

I'd just like to point out that people can be followers without being leaders in a faith, as an analogy.

I'm not exactly sure how Order's and such work here, as I haven't had much to do with that aspect...
But I know that in Aetolia there were Order's, and then there were often Clans for followers.

A character in the follower's clan was still a very definite part of the faith. The Order members were essentially the priests though.

Is a church-going, devout christian less of a christian than a priest because he can't do funerals and weddings? No. That person might have a completely different full-time job. Maybe he's a chef, a customer-service phone operator, or a bare-knuckle boxer. Hell, the fellow from the congregation that gives up some free time to clean the church or mow the grounds? Priest, no. Part of the faith? I'd say so.

So, a warrior devoted to a totem path may also be a sort of spiritual guide in the guild, taken their dedication far enough to be granted abilities and power by their Totem, and they may guide the less-spiritually dedicated warriors.

Hell, it could easily bring some interesting roleplay. The Totem warriors trying to make sure the guild acts in the best interest of the Spirits, and preaching and encouraging the Hunters to devote themselves. I'd love to see on of the commune warrior guilds with zealous followers of the totems having arguments over goals and paths with the others.

2. Stop censor.gif whinging, suck it up and enjoy what's been added to the game by very, very dedicated, hard-working staff. If it's causing you that much grief, get off the damn computer, go outside, or to work, or SOMETHING in real life, and remind yourself that gaming is for fun, not deep philosophical debate, and hours and hours of hard work (at least not for the players smile.gif ).

If you prefer, I could make all guilds exact clones of each other like in Achaea (snakes, mages, monks, etc.). A good point was made earlier that those guilds were not clones of each other in RP and ideals despite being 100% carbon copied with the skillsets. So if they can pull it off when they are exactly the same them it should be pretty easy for you guy when things are still quite different. Skills do not make you what you are. It is the city you live in, the nexus you guard, the sense of life that you promote, etc.

One thing I like about Hunting is that (surely) only Commune guilds would choose it, with the clear superiority of Necromancy/Sacraments. So by keeping it from becoming too strong, you've managed to avoid an unrealistic break-away from the traditional city skills.

Yes. I didn't cure legs perfectly. Why? I didn't see the venoms, which Shinza says were there. Or perhaps the pit breaks legs if you've not got levitation. At any rate, there was no way for me to escape that.

With the added time of the stun and curing the various venoms, climbing out of the pit should be -instant-. That is ridiculous. I think decapitate must have been an oversight when pit was designed.

I was glad I got to see the event.

Unlike some paper RPGs and other IRE games, Lusternia has the most flexibility for classes. There's no "we get this three" skillset. They're making it very flexible, and I suspect we're going to see even more to come. I'm not sure if they will release new guilds or archetypes--well, the new cities will need new guilds, of course. Also, the web site page for archetypes lists the primary skill (although it needs an update now for the new change for the other classes).

As far as the "wrecked the RP" goes, here's the deal:

Players setup their own RP, but you have to remember that this is a shared world, with parts of it hidden from you, and you should expect changes. You should avoid setting up a rigid and narrow stereotype for guilds you contribute to. At the very least, you should be able to change it when new things come on board, even if you have to invoke a little retroactive continuity. (Although it shouldn't require that much of a change).

Maybe the name "Paladins" made people think of only the D&D class and seemed to indicate that the guild (and all the others) were holy warrior guilds. I can understand that. But the guild is really for all the warriors in the city. So now it includes what might be "Rangers" as well. Similarly, Druids now can undertake part of the balance of nature.

I would advise you not to be prejudicial towards the new hunters. You are thinking a bit selfishly about preserving the rules you may have founded. The guilds are for the community as a whole, they are not for the guild masters themselves. The guilds masters serve the community of players and their characters. Making only a narrow selection eligible for power may discourage people and force them to leave and go elsewhere--maybe a whole buncha people go to Serenwilde or the cities, or end up hurting you in battle as the other guilds utilize these new skills and you have less people in Glomdoring utilizing theirs.

A suggestion for those struggling to make this work. I remember the Moondancers have different schools for Wiccans, for instance, even if it's only an RP device. Why not consider the following options.

Make the Guild more generic, and use clans or some other distinquishing features to distinguish the groups or paths taken. Have the Holy Warrior Clan and the Tracker clans. Give them all equal access to the guild (eligible for elections, etc), but allow clans to have their own requirements, for instance, supported by the guild. Maybe the guild requires those with hunting join one clan and those with sacriments or totems join the other.

You guys can make it work if you use a little creativity.
