I eat a small meal once a day - I'm always hungry.
But on topic, Ecology sounds awesome! I don't know if I like how the druids need to decide if they want a nifty pet, or a free ress though. If they can turn it off, I suppose they can deepbond while hunting or while raiding, and turn it off while defending or while village influencing.
And I think deepbond should require the pet to be either in the same area or an adjacent area to work

You don't understand. This pet, any NOVICE can kill it with newbie kicks. If I deepbond it, and it dies, I die. I get to pray. Or I can put another 10 power into the setup, and drink vitae. Lame. It's fine the way it is.

Let me add to that then.
I think there should be a skill that empowers the pet and makes it much harder to kill as well.
Unknown2005-09-03 17:57:44
So it seems like this pet was actually -designed- to keep it safe. Which you -can- do and enjoy the flawless 'lichdom'.

It's like Lich and Ghost all in one. Assuming deepbond works across planes you can just hide your pet in a manse and have a perfect method of reincarnation+escape. Even if it only works on your plane, just toss it in your guildhall.
Unknown2005-09-03 18:11:31
Thus, assuming I haven't made any glaring oversights, trans hunters are now impossible to kill.
I know one of you is going to prove me wrong in ten minutes and I'll look like a jackass, so get to work.

It doesn't need to work off-plane, there's conglutinate.
Munsia2005-09-03 18:13:42
you have to be on the same plane as your Bond

Not everyone can both trans planar and trans hunting.

Conglutinate has a small experience loss, Transmigration doesn't. It works across planes. And I'm hiding my badger either in the stockroom of the guild store or the Seren Council chambers. I'm not chancing that some random novice will kill him in the guildhall.
My main annoyance is that the familiar has some neat skills, but if you want to deepbond, you can't bother with any of them.
Also, you make it local area only, and no one will ever use it. It would be worthless.

Shouldn't be local area - should be local area or adjacent local area.

Hah, and to think, people once complained about lich.
Now everyone but Wiccans, Mages, and Celestines has the potential to be 'unkillable', although Moondancers have resurgem.

Does the pet die to reincarnate you?
If that's the case, it sounds like a soul object, the concept being some person, place, or thing contains a portion of your soul and then becomes you.
One "flavor" downside that might be fun would be similar to the old D&D Reincarnate spell. Maybe if this thing works you are randomly reincarnated as some other race, and can't reincarnate for 1 month or something, giving it a small risk. The Mugwump becomes a Viscanti. That would give it a little risk.

No, I think you 'become' the pet for a short while.

Most of people who participate in combat trans planar. It's important and useful skillset, and you need to learn quite high up in it anyway to survive Astral, for example.
Conglutinate experience loss is very small, especially if another player kills you. I think it's better to lose 1-2% (or even less than one) when fighting off-plane and save that druid rebirth in case you die on prime (and thus avoid losing several dozen percent), especially if it costs a lot of power.

Wait so Ecology has a rezzing type skill? Does this mean every guild has a possible rezz besides, Geomancers, Aquamancers, Ebonguard and Shadowdancers? Nerf i say, nerf!

Maybe if we're really patient they'll throw us something too.
