That gives me a free reincarnation every month. No.
If I have to keep it anywhere that isn't absolutely safe, I will -never- use it. I DIE when it is killed. Unstoppably. Why the hell would I take that around with me?
Either it needs completely replaced, or people need to just deal with it. I'm for the former myself, for game balance and all, but you can't just nerf it to hell like that.

Clarify it for me cause I'm not sure if I understand it completely.
You have neat skills but you need the pet by your side, pet that can be killed with one or two hits, and if it dies, you die as well?

Hah, and to think, people once complained about lich.
Now everyone but Wiccans, Mages, and Celestines has the potential to be 'unkillable', although Moondancers have resurgem.

The warrior guilds don't get ecology- are you sure that tracking gives you this ability too?
Unknown2005-09-03 18:35:32
As far as I know, it doesn't, and it replaces necromancy so no lichdom for hunters Ur'guard anymore.

Aye. If Deepbonded, that is.

If it's not deepbonded, you take about 1/3 of your max health in damage. It can be remotely ordered to move, attack, relay all spoken conversation in a room to you, and can also show you what's in a room from a distance. However, if you deepbond (needed for Transmigration), you will die when it dies. The skills really aren't worth the damage if you're in combat, but with deepbond, you will never want your familiar where it can be touched.
Unknown2005-09-03 18:42:50
I was told by multiple people that Trans Tracking was Deepbond as well.
Unknown2005-09-03 18:44:54
Guido, I think you've a misunderstanding.
Hunting, at Mastery, is a specialization. However, Druids can ONLY specialize in Ecology, which allows us to be reborn in the animal we're bonded with, at the sacrifice of that animal.
Warriors can ONLY specialize in Tracking, which is very different.

So... if you have some common sense, you either bond and hide it or not bond and use it. It's all fine.
The only concerns I can see are:
1. The fact that bond can be too powerful as it's unfallible (I don't really think so, or actually care too much about that).
2. Some frustration from the fact you can't have it both ways. Oh well.

Yeah, unless you're Hajamin and trip a bug and get 200-400 snakes in your trap That was why Narsrim died three times in a row yesterday to measly snakes. There were hundreds of them!

Not saying to 'nerf' or 'not nerf' the skill, as I'm just curious in terms of balance.
But Lichdom when someones dies as has been said before eye sigils stop the ghost from moving, granted that isn't easy to do to place eye sigils around so it can be argued thats not reliable to do, but the ghost can only walk so far before it does reform, so you can just track them down and kill them again while they have no defenses which while maybe not easy is possible, and they are off equilibrium for a good bit after reforming with no power.
If someone with the new ecology skill dies, they 'become' their animal where its deepbonded, now assuming their animal is in a safe place like a council chamber or a guildhall or some such, in where case the guilds simply have to make it *well* known not to kill anything short of weevils in the guildhalls/other places, they return and become it. So beside's taking more power, how is it stoppable at all for someone that couldn't get into someones guildhall to kill the animal in the first place? What would stop someone from deepbonding, go raiding, get killed, deepbond, go raiding, get killed, ad infinitum without any way to stop it?
I'm just curious from a sense of balance and would be interested on that, not simply a 'oh the mags just don't have domination of lich-like thing now' as I really could care about that, even though I don't have the ability I think it sounds fascinating and glad they can get some help from an ooc balance point of view, even if two of the abilities are seemingly upgraded necromancy ones (the ectoplasm & lich-like ones). So would be happy to have a logical answer to the above (heck use pm's if you want, I'm just interested if knowing)

Nothing, besides power cost.
Or do you still lose some XP when you die with Deepbond?
Ashteru2005-09-03 20:48:40
As much as I heard, you may not lose XP, but did you look at the powercost? It HURTS!
