As I said in the signup thread, I will not reveal the setup. That would really be a detriment to the fun of this game. I will be revealing roles upon death though so that you’re not entirely flying blind. First, trust me, even if you think things are balanced against you, there might be something you don’t know about yet. Second, I realize not everyone knows all the possibilities that there can be in a ‘mafia’ game so I am providing THIS. Any of the roles (or variation of) you find there may or may not be in this game. If you are new to the Soulless game and aren't sure exactly how it works, please see THIS.

There will also be some rules invoked in this game.
1. No quoting the mod. This means, no copying and pasting your PMs from me into your posts.
2. There will be no discussion outside of this thread, except at night, and only those whose roles say they can discuss at night can and only with those their role states they can talk with.
3. There will be a lynch when there is a majority vote. Once there is a majority vote, STOP TALKING. There is to be no discussion about the game in the thread in twilight or at night. (I will keep up to date with votecounts and how many it takes to lynch will be posted in the votecounts)
4. Once you are dead, you are dead. STOP TALKING. You may post once to give a ghostly cheer to your team after your role is revealed, but nothing else.
5. You may vote NO LYNCH if you want to move on to the next day without a lynch.
6. All votes and unvotes must be bolded or they will not count. Also, you must unvote before voting someone else or your vote will not change.
7. I will place a deadline if there is too much inactivity during the day. If a deadline is hit, the person with the most votes (at least ½ of a majority) will be lynched, otherwise it will be a no lynch. If two people have the same number of votes and ½ a majority, the first to have reached the number of votes will be lynched.
8. If you break my rules, I will modkill you. I don’t care what your role is.
9. The mod is always right, except when I’m wrong.
10. Have fun!

The Soulless Gods have somehow managed to return to the Basin of Life to destroy and dominate everything! In force, those that are Pure gather to fight the overwhelming threat to everything they hold dear. Working in the cover of night, the Soulless have begun to slay the Elder Gods to ensure their domination. Already two Elder Gods are dead, their remnants scattered across the Basin. Unfortunately since they have been obliterated, no one knows who is dead. All the Pure ones know is that they MUST fight this threat. At night they will do what they can with their powers, but during the day all will gather at Avechna's Peak and attempt to determine who the Soulless really are. Because of the Soulless presence, vision even during the day is murky and it's very difficult for the Pure ones to even know each other.

The realization that the Soulless have returned and the loss of the two Elder Gods has sent the Pure ones reeling and has sapped their energy. Before they can begin their battle against the Soulless, they must have a good rest. Unfortunately, some may die this night, but the Pure Ones have no choice.

Everyone please PM me their night choices ASAP.

This thread will be closed at night to prevent random talking in the thread and clutter that doesn't need to be there.

“Greetings, Fain. I see you have not taken your rest this night either. The night is incredibly revealing, isn’t it?”

“Indeed and while the other Elders may take a rest” Fain scoffs. “I intend to find out just where the Soulless are and what their plan is so that we may defeat them.”

“Of course, I had the same thing in mind. My knowledge is too great to be wasted on rest.” Lord Raezon chuckles.

“Standing here talking about it won’t get us any further than rest though. I’ll see you in the morning.” Lord Fain says with a comradely wink.

“Too true. Too true. In the morning then.”

Convinced of Lord Fain’s pureness, Lord Raezon returns to his place of power to rest until morning. Just before Father Sun chases away the darkness of Mother Night, he is awakened by the presence of a great power. Power far greater than his own.

Before Lord Raezon can move to protect himself, he finds himself suspended in mid-air, unable to move, unable to speak. Then slowly, pain begins to consume him as bit by bit the skin is stripped to his bones, and his essence is devoured. He feels his freedom return just as the last speck of his life is snuffed out and his corpse drops to the floor.

After an unsuccessful quest to discover one of the Soulless, Lord Fain, Traitor to the Elder Gods begins to make his way back to his place of power. On his way, he begins to plot how he will ensure the demise of the Pure one he was able to uncover. He stops a moment, scribes a quick note in mortal tongue, and then continues on his way. Suddenly, his body begins to change. His organs burst forth, and as his eyes widen in shock every part of him begins to turn inside out. Muscles, organs, and bones reverse themselves and his flesh is turned inwards as the last of his power and essence drains away.

You all awake and make your way to Avechna’s Peak for the day’s discussion and possible killing. A quick headcount reveals two are missing and you look at each other in horror. Before any discussion begins you all search the Basin of Life for the missing Gods.

An unidentifiable heap is found near Magnagora, and upon closer inspection, you find a small black note that reads: “My servants, the time has come. Domination awaits Me. Find the Soulless.” A red mask is imprinted on a bottom corner.

Another unidentifiable heap is found in Lord Raezon’s place of power. Books and devices of every sort are also discovered, but one blood-splattered book in particular catches your eye. On the first page within, it says, “Lord Fain is Pure.”

Munsia –Lord Fain, Traitor to the Elder Gods has been turned inside out.
Cwin – Lord Raezon, Scrier of Knowledge has been stripped of his flesh.

With these discoveries, you all return to Avechna’s Peak and the long day begins.

With 11 alive, it's 6 for a good old fashioned divine lynching.

...wtf was that all about? wacko.gif We vote like normal, right?
Unknown2005-09-04 11:50:43
Yes.
Shorlen2005-09-04 13:34:16
Two murders at night? blink.gif This bodes not well for us.
Eyod2005-09-04 14:33:24
ouch. nicely described, well haven't played this before
so just going on what ive read from the last games I'd say
that Cwin could probably tell who was good or evil, dunno what
Munsia was, can't have been good.
Cwin2005-09-04 15:09:41
I can see it all now,
the destiny laid before us
the forces mounted against us
And all that lies between

Yet now that this knowledge is mine, what can I do with it?

Nothing.

Except hope my comrades find this knowledge as well before all is lost.

(*sob* I wasn't supposed to die. I never am the one to die first. *cry* It's so unfair.

Ok, It's out of my system now. Good luck guys.)

Shiri2005-09-04 15:29:58
Because I have to go to sleep soon, I'm voting to kill requiem dot exe, because I have no idea who he is in game still, so I don't know if I like him or not. biggrin.gif

Vote may change if the execution doesn't happen 'fore I wake up though!
Revan2005-09-04 15:31:56
I'll also vote to kill Requiem dot exe, mostly because there's no proof against him being a soulless.
Unknown2005-09-04 18:23:54
Hm. Do we herd vote again? Or wait?

I think I'll wait a few to see what is said....before I vote. Tired of being sheep *sparkle*
Unknown2005-09-04 19:04:44
6. All votes and unvotes must be bolded or they will not count. Also, you must unvote before voting someone else or your vote will not change.

Just a mention, requiem dot exe is camping and will not be able to post for another 24 hours or so.
Munsia2005-09-04 19:29:49
Yay I get my one time only cheer..
Go soulless! dry.gif
Shorlen2005-09-04 20:12:18
I would rather not herd vote, especially against someone who is not even here to say anything. Does anyone have any information?
Unknown2005-09-04 20:45:02
Mod note: To point suspicion at someone if you're not ready to vote yet, you may FOS them. FOS = Finger of Suspicion.
Unknown2005-09-04 20:56:33
Hmmm. I think I will point a Finger of Suspicion at Narsrim ...anyone know anything about him that would clear his name? *sparkle*
Tsuki2005-09-04 21:59:01
Didn't post earlier, as I was too tired. Having just woken up, I'm still tired ... but I told m'self I needed to post something before I got distracted and didn't. So I'll just be getting out all my thoughts. smile.gif

As is already obvious, I'll still mention that the first day (or two, in some cases) is generally always random. Whoever is lynched tends to end up being an Elder in the end, unless pure luck strikes and we hit a Soulless. In the past, I've personally thought it best to vote against someone rather than no one. Voting for no one is inaction, the Soulless know who they are and will not be inactive in targetting anyone not of them. Inaction on our part gives them absolute free rein to continue, whereas by taking action and voting we at least have a chance to work against them.

That said, however, we've lost an important person ... "Lord Raezon, Scrier of Knowledge" certainly sounds to have been like what we know as a Seer, does anyone disagree? "Lord Fain, Traitor to the Elder Gods" was not as important a loss to the Soulless side as the Scrier was to ours. We can hope, though, that we might have another one lurking around ... but we don't know if we have the equivalent of a Guardian who could protect such a possible other Scrier if such a claim was believed.

I haven't given enough thought to things yet to cast a vote. Y'know, though, nobody has voted yet according to the rules ... but as long as we keep talking and being active, we don't have to quite yet. I can, as Branwyn's done, point a finger of suspicion.

Finger of Suspicion pointed at Revan, for being so quick to cast a vote (albeit unofficially due to the lack of bolding). Shiri has the (marginal) excuse of being tired, but I don't know about Revan. Granted, Shiri shouldn't really have posted either, perhaps ...

Heh ... hail the first day!

Going off to hopefully be able to think some more while doing other things I need to, but I'll leave you with the sheep! biggrin.gif

Narsrim2005-09-04 23:26:38
I would sincerely hope that someone has some information to share.
Xenthos2005-09-04 23:41:27
Problem is, first day, there is very little information to go with. The best we can do is try to figure out who looks suspicious and vote for them.

If Raezon was our only scrier, we won't really have that kind of information... I guess odds are that he is not, since the Soulless somehow killed off two of us. We don't even know what all the roles are.

That said- Narsrim has less against him than Revan, but Revan doesn't even have that much, just the standard "he voted first." Meh. I guess I will cast a finger of suspicion on Revan, though it may change.
Narsrim2005-09-04 23:46:50
Given that we do not know all the roles, I would pray that someone out there has some role that has afforded them something better than our random FOS's in the dark.

In any case, I'm going to have to go with Xenthos and Tsuki. Revan was quick to post and his rationale for doing so was rather misplaced.
