The supplicants and spikes quests.

Back to Common Grounds.

I never noticed that before. If that is the case, then I think the number of supplicants should be retroactively cut in half. I can't test it right now because the quest is broken (stupid Ship of the Dead mad.gif ).
Unknown2005-09-04 14:55:02
That still leaves, what, 41k? (<-- Edit: it's late and I can't count. sad.gif )

I guess Magnagora isn't the only one that can claim they work very hard for their organization.

Lisaera, you might also want to check the Flame... something weird is going on with pixies too. Glomdoring or Magnagora notice any odd arithmetic with their quests?
Shamarah2005-09-04 14:55:13
Huh, that was why we had so many, then... In that case, I do agree that the number of supplicants should probably be halved to be fair.

EDIT: Then again... this bug probably hasn't been here the entire time, so maybe that wouldn't be quite fair.
Unknown2005-09-04 15:15:07
I think it should be cut in half, as it's ridiculously high, and even removing half of them still leaves you with a far greater number of them.

I seem to remember reporting this like last year, actually. I think it's been there since the start.

I might be wrong, though. My memory is foggy today...

Actually I think the ship of the Dead will make up for it eventually, since we can't sink it and apparently it's not important enough to get fixed. (Yes, I'm getting annoyed about this) wacko.gif

Well... there's something somewhat odd about the spikes quest. If you hand over ALL your spectres at once you only get 11 flasks... however, if you hand over JUST enough for 11 flasks, you go convert them into soup, and then turn the remaining spectres into flasks. Can get 16 soups this way (fun trying to find all the beggars for 'em, though.)

Even with that, the demon lords just don't rise very quickly... first you have to spend all the time to hunt down the spectres, then you have to hunt down the beggars (which can take a good amount of time all by itself)... and then, for me at least, I need to spend about half an hour sleeping to get my endurance back, making the entire time for one clearing around an hour and a half.

I know that one, I did the quest for like forever after all. ninja.gif

Plus there is a trick with the beggars so you only need one. You give him the soup and drag him to that.. whomever (forgot the name), you get a spike, then give another soup to the beggar.. after the first drinking message give another one.. you can have him drinking 3 soups at the same time, you just gotta be fast with running out of the room and right back.. you'll get the spikes for all of them, worked for me every time, so you can do the beggar part in no time. closedeyes.gif

Unlike kinsmen/kinswomen, those -really- take some time wacko.gif
Thorgal2005-09-04 20:07:06
Right, I think we should just ignore Aesyra on this...

I did the entire supplicant quest in less than -2- minutes, using triggers and a dig enchantment.

Spiking takes me more than half an hour, and requires a fair bit of tankiness, since the paladins and emperors aren't exactly fodder.

The two quests are completely imbalanced... and not just because of that bug.
Viravain2005-09-04 20:07:51
I'm almost certain that has been fixed for a great deal of time now. (In reference to the beggar and soup comment from Shadow.)
Arilyon2005-09-04 20:11:20
It has been fixed for a VERY long time.
Unknown2005-09-04 20:15:37
Well, I haven't done it for a -very- long time by now (All your fault for enemying me tongue.gif).. but I liked that, made it easy. sad.gif

Plus, Thorgal. That you can do 10 sands in 3 min.. with the towers locked I doubt you can find enough kinsman to do it in 3 minutes. Plus in half an hour you can gain up to 16 spikes.. sands should have about the same respawn time (?), so theoretically that makes up to 10 supplicants in half an hour for Celest and up to 16 spikes for Magnagora.. right? unsure.gif
Thorgal2005-09-04 20:21:44
First of all, I've never had an orb or sand decay on me, while I've had an average of 3-4 spikes/soups decay every round.

Second, I used triggers and autowalking, only takes a few moments to gather all the supplicants. I didn't need 3 minutes to do the entire quest, I only needed 2.

I thought the quick decay on soups was a bug too? Quit confusing me..

Also, can you honestly say that the sand quest gets you the same experience gold and Karma as the spiking does?

Edit: I'd trade sand for spiking anytime, I always saw the sand quest as the worse of the two.. I really don't know what you see in it.
Thorgal2005-09-04 20:28:13
Same karma, same gold, less experience.

Also consumes exactly 15x more time.
Unknown2005-09-04 20:35:06
That experience is more worth than you think. Look at the rankings, Celest could really need some more people up there. I'd still trade them anytime.
Thorgal2005-09-04 20:38:59
Heh, with the time I save doing supplicants compared to spikes, I can gain a lot more experience..

Not even worth trying Aesyra, this imbalance cannot be justified by anything.

err.. sands so not reset any faster than spectres do, so how can you make more experience that way?

Plus, who's talking about imbalance? I think it's fine the way it is, aside from the fact that I'd like to trade quests. You think the sand is the better one, I think spectres is, I'd -really- like to trade them.
