From various events posts.

QUOTE
Two trill hunters, Aiella Ironwing and Viric Longfeather, tracked a pair
of rabid tigers into the Basin. These white tigers had ravaged their
village, killing their mates and children.

QUOTE
About this time, a strange aslaran druid from outside the Basin named
Mraxin, Keeper of the Dawn, appeared before the druids of Hartstone and
Blacktalon.

QUOTE
Four Scribes arrived in the Basin this month by

QUOTE
A dwarf by the name of Barl Cleaver entered the Basin,

QUOTE
Later, three other strangers entered the basin:

The rest of Lusternia is a horrible, uninhabited wasteland? Suuure. Not only do beings exist outside the Basin of life, they appear to have formed thriving communities.
Dritex2005-09-06 00:45:54
I've been pondering on this type of stuff too.
Xenthos2005-09-06 00:47:07
It's not necessarily THRIVING, but yeah, it is present.
Unknown2005-09-06 00:56:50
Find out about it IC. I suspected this for a while, and I did. I know some of what's out there, anyway. smile.gif
Shamarah2005-09-06 01:03:13
Didn't Soll go outside the Basin at one point on RP? Did he actually find out what was there?
Soll2005-09-06 06:39:21
Maybe. smile.gif

From what I gathered, the Basin is not our entire world: just the world that we've called our home. After the wars against the Soulless tore apart the world, the survivors grouped together in the Basin to survive.

We're probably still Basin oriented ICly for the same reason why we are Basin oriented OOCly: not enough population to encourage expansion. Also, we're having too much fun traveling different planes.
Narsrim2005-09-06 12:02:02
Maybe we'll get lucky and Guido will travel outside the Basin halo.gif
Unknown2005-09-06 13:57:10
Guido's dead.

And, outside the Basin, I imagine the Soulless are still poisoning the earth and seas.

If you focus is some silly tiger than was can be taken down by Chenna, I don't think you are too overly worried about Soulless.
Tenebrae2005-09-06 17:47:37
If it were possible though, can we expand small areas? as in a peak where you can 'view' the whole basin, maybe put there a university/library of sorts for the rest of the realm?

I don't understand this at all. I think there were some fumbled words in there though.

Heck, I -never- understand -this- kid's posts.

1. Expansion into areas: Getting new areas? They're building more all the time. I'm not sure what you're saying.
2. A peak that overlooks the basin = avechna's peak. A university or library for the realm = Akashic institute or Library in Deepnight.

I'll explain in graphic detail for you:

We have two people enter the Basin chasing down tigers that supposedly devoured their kin (which is funny considering they were trill and thus could fly). Then, some druid comes and talks about preserving the tigers.

Moral of the story: If you have time to worry about tigers and preserving tigers, your land probably isn't being wasted over by Soulless Gods else you probably wouldn't have the time to whine about tigers.
Bau2005-09-06 18:27:16
Shameless plug for Richter. When will people learn?
Unknown2005-09-06 18:28:06
Apparently, we're all just rats in a cage. laugh.gif

Corr2005-09-06 19:05:28
Sounds to me like people who survived the soulless constantly eating up the basin moved to outside the basin.

Hrm, you're probably right. It's probably a land of milk, honey, and porno mags out there.
Cwin2005-09-06 21:19:18
I also don't think there's no Soulless eatting the land outside. As it is, all of the Soulless were taken care of during the war and there's no reason to believe the events like the bringing of the fae didn't stretch to outside the basin. The people came to the basin because it held more life/power (read: Avechna peak was nearby).

Also make a note: there's also no Taint outside either. The Taint started and ended/was contained (depends on who you ask) in the basin. There's also probably a lack of Power or Nexii there, since the focus of both seems to be around the Peak.

So outside the basin is either mostly empty with a few villages or a sprawling life of people VERY different from us.

Though, honestly, I think we should leave it alone. Big 'empty' areas that hasn't been seen for generations tends to result in superempires more powerful than all of us combined. Our Nexii are a perfect reason to charge in, wipe us all out, enslave us, and claim all the power for themselves.

We also have a crew of Devine that are evil enough to do just that, if just to stop the nation vs nation whining (Sick of Magnagora attacking you? TAKE THIS HA HA HA HA!)

The Soulless, aside from Kethuru, were trapped in the Earth and at least one in the frozen polar caps. They are there, and their presence continues to poison the surrounding lands. At least, did, don't know if they still do - don't know why that would stop.

As to life outside the Basin, from what I've found out, you're giving it way too much credit.

But, find out IC. Grr. Irritates me when I see all these people just taking guesses at what I had to go torture some poor Divine for. tongue.gif
