Make it so you automatically order the creature to move back?
Unknown2005-09-08 07:07:13
Or make it so you can see what direction you just moved it.
Incidentally, because there is no delay in moving a familiar, I can have an alias that moves it instantly to the Ravenwood, then instantly back. Not sure why that would be useful, but yeah.

I picked my former favourite spot to spy on as an example. In fact, you can move them anywhere instantly.

Safe rooms that resemble kennels in each city/commune, in which pets can be left for a fee (1k?) when the druid is out of the realms, but which also prevents transmigration, so this can't be abused?
A small shelter.
Numerous cages line the room, lined with fresh hay and ceramic bowls filled with clean water. Different types of familiars occupy some of the cages, while helpers go about their daily routine of caring for the animals. Chookibaba, Caretaker of the Beasts is here.
You get 1000 gold sovereigns from a canvas backpack.
You give 1000 gold sovereigns to Chookibaba, Caretaker of the Beasts.
Chookibaba says, "Ah! We'll take very good care of your pet, don't worry."
Chookibaba handles a black widow with gentle hands, putting it into a nearby cage.
You greet Chookibaba with a sincere smile.
Chookibaba says, "Here to get your pet?"
Chookibaba opens the door of a nearby cage, and carefully carries a black widow out.
A black widow begins to follow you.
Just a suggestion

Should make boarding usable for all pets, loyals. At least that way, people's mounts wouldn't be hanging around the various nexus' and would have a place to be put up and fed if you have to go away for a while.
Kayde2005-09-09 10:55:41
I think that the candle or perhaps even incense would be a good idea for manse/guildhall protection. It should definately be in the artisian skillset in the wallmounts place, and have a decay rate on it, so you have to replace the candles/incense every so often.
I'm not sure that hounds should be able to track through closed doors, which should theoretically prevent most of this anyway. I mean really, how is this dog opening doors?

*boards up the doors in her manse with steel bars to prevent doggies from entering!*
Although.. in seriousness, that's not a bad idea, would make a better use of all those different door types, if say the pine (cheapest) one is breakable by dogs, but the stronger ones aren't.

I'd believe its mainly a code thing, the dog is simply tracking from point a to point b, not physically going the route to get from point a to point b, so whether they are doors or not doesn't make a difference to the code

Ooh, thought of an extension of my idea. We could make it so that the fees for boarding go according to the period of desired boarding. So the longer you intend to board your pet, the more you pay, to offset "maintenance" costs (food, water, grooming...), so it's fairer, instead of people paying the same amount for 1 and 893274318 Luste months of boarding... so a Luste month would be 1000gp or so... maybe a discount, 500 per subsequent month...
....starting to sound like a parking service.
But it would be interesting.
1) Safe pets.
2) no transmigration or unite to boarded pets to prevent abuse.
3) interesting RP.
4) somewhere for that gold to sink into...
5) the fees prevent players from simply leaving their pets in there until they need to go fight and transmigrate.
6) did I mention safe pets?

Making guild halls their own area is bad. I wanna tear my hair out every time I hear a druid say "we need a place to keep our pets where they will be 100% safe!" its retarded. You get an amazing benefit, with a small chance of risk. quit whining

Well, isn't it natural that a Druid would want to keep their pet as safe as possible? The whole caring for nature and living things thing...
Sylphas2005-09-10 00:09:07
I want to keep my pet safe so that I don't die. If I don't lose experience, and don't have to pray, I'm back in a fight faster, and I keep my levels, allowing me to defend the Serenwilde more efficiently.

I believe Diamante is commenting on how Druids basically want a guaranteed way to never lose experience for 18 power versus 10, with no risk
