Meh. I think it's extremyl shoddy RP. Sorry, but no Seren should be seeking to PROTECT Astral - the communes are supposed to abhor the idea of even using the higher planes. Honestly, I wish they wouldn't have given us cone, and the divine have been mean about Astral bashing/linking.

Because then stupid crap like this happens. "Let's keep the power up!" I, personally, think it's a very OOC thing. The communes should be the ones preaching abandonment. But then again, RP doesn't really apply to Astral anymore. It's more a place for powerbashers, and Magnagora, now that it's discovered the potential of their somewhat private bashing grounds, is just screwing everyone else over.

It's not roleplay. It's spite. But, as I said. RP doesn't really apply to Astral. The Serenwilde wants to protect it, Magnagora's draining it so no one can bash to Titan/demigod but them, and. Well. This arbiters crap.

Thats not really how we see it Erion. Honestly to me Astral is an excess of so many things. Karma, gold, experience, power, essence while having all of the above is nice in a game where such things are suppose to mean something, having excess means they mean close to nothing.

-Power has become an issue since astral was drained. Not everybody runs around with 100 power now and people are more careful with it since they're draining from their respective nexus'.

-Not everybody can get experience as fast anymore and people are more concerned about dying.

-People can't gather up essence as fast anymore and so essence is more noticed. I know Magnagora at least, is very concerned about this at the moment.

-For trades I really do like how people are trading so much more now-a-days to earn gold.

-Karma, not everybody is running around with god knows how many blessings.

To me it's better this way.

If people are going to be killing drainers, well the drainers will need defenders I guess. Now we have a reason to kill each other on Astral.

It realy depends on who you are, i for example wont be draining nodes below halo. I drained few links from motes if it just turned from halo earlier, but now motes is realy low so i dont link to them.
I realy hope that astral will be back. But i'm not going to fight with windmills (there always will be some selfish people who wont be care about others).

Something -should- be done about Astral, but ICly I think most of us will oppose it, and I'm with Murphy on that. I don't think murdering people is the right way to go about affecting change, though trying to organize some sort of player-led coalition (as opposed to the previous attempt at government-led coalitions creating laws to regulate the plane) is a step in the right direction.

Shame that the only person OOC willing to give a rat's ass and do something with an OOC clan on an OOC subject, is -surpise- an IC Seren.

It's okay though, because if everything is as rotten IG as it has been lately, I'm going to be bored out of mind and will just leave, so my RP won't be a problem anymore. I've done my share of RP. I lost favour in my guild because of it, and found that in the end it's impossible for Seren fighers to RP because for 2 weeks at a time, we have to fight off randomized raiders.

If you want a fair way for Astral to be conserved, how about this.

Have Draining nodes lower Karma and automatically grant suspect status, or something. Or, have a different type of Karma curse for somebody who drains astral, with the more they drain the lower their karma becomes and the higher the penalty, or only if they drain when the nodes are really low or drain more than a small amount of power. The player can view the "Astral Drainer" status and curse them.

Karma Curses. Not just for PK.

OTOH, maybe Astral is based on other elements of economics in this realm. I think having wood shortages and power shortages is part and parcel of the game. You must have good economic and conservation planning, or else you are SOL. But if its true the Mags have a private bashing ground then the other communites should have one.

We need a skill in Discernment that lets us see a person's individual power gain that month.

I do not want, nor think the admins will, see them change Astral in an attempt to fix it If it's never fully restored, that's our problem, not theirs.

I'd imagine the catacombs.

This skill could be quite usefull, and as Divines dont want to 'fix' astral. This skill could help players to 'fix' it.
