i looked through the player honours and just added up all the players that were there. just think this might interest some people. maybe i should check the amount in a couple of days and see the approximate rate of growth? or do the administrators all have all this information. well anyways, it's still pretty interesting;

Those fairly accurately reflect the playerbase.
Unknown2005-09-10 23:31:50
Poor Krokani.
Stangmar2005-09-10 23:41:58
the thing is, most of those are inactive novices. I wonder what the number of active non-novices are.

ya. i think that most of them go with what looks best and what names they recognize, also, that would explain why there's so many humans elfens igashos and such, and so few mugwump. it seems most mugwump are just people who recently becameso.
Hazar2005-09-11 00:17:54
Why are there so many dracnari?
Taika2005-09-11 00:18:43
Dragons.
Unknown2005-09-11 00:23:18
Good stats. Stats are probably the most important for many new players.
Vix2005-09-11 00:41:06
Probably left over from when dracnaris were insanely awesome as knights.
Shamarah2005-09-11 22:44:18
What Taika said.

And I'm surprised that there's so many Humans, but I suppose it's because people know what they are...
silimaur2005-09-12 10:28:26
you mean people dont know what igashens are???
Eyod2005-09-12 10:29:10
when most new mudders join they go by the description, Dragons are cool and if your confused you just choose human.
Unknown2005-09-12 20:01:03
Yup. My first character was dracnari because I thought, "Hey! I can be a dragonspeaker!" My second character was a dwarf because I figured I'd be tanky, but then I decided I wanted to be something more unique and a bit larger so I chose igasho, which actually fits the role I wanted to play much better anyhow.

I'll never understand someone playing a human, though. Seems to me that human roleplaying is less imaginative and you're just trying to be the same person you are in real life.
Unknown2005-09-12 20:08:34
Human roleplaying can sometimes be easier than demi-human roleplaying, since you already know the basics of the normal functions. You know how they have children, how they breathe, talk, move, fight, what they look like, all that. With say, a merian, or a mugwump, it would be harder to get those basic things down pat. Ask a mugwump how it has children, and you would probably get a whole ton of different answers, none of them 'incorrect' per say. Being a human lets you focus more on the other aspects that make your character unique, rather than the race. So I wouldn't say 'unimaginative' or 'lazy' but rather a desire to focus more on other aspects of RP or to make an easier transition into another world.

Poor Orclachs
Unknown2005-09-12 20:19:34
heh, when I created my charactor I put a LOT of time and effort into thinking what would be best RP-wise without being extremely crapy either.
tsaephai2005-09-12 20:50:59
well, i still like igashos. all hail igashos! IGASHOS SHALL RULE! mwuhuhahahahahahaha!
Unknown2005-09-12 21:39:20
I chose human because I want to roleplay a kind of transformation... a growing evolution of human into an entirely different race, so as to incorporate reincarnate into my RP, and it sounds cool anyway. The original idea was a human gradually changing into a viscanti, since I'm Mag, but I've been thinking of RP ways to go other races as well... failed toadcurse, reincarnate as mugwump... something like that.

And I'll admit the exp bonus played in a little on that decision as well. wink.gif

I had two reasons for playing human:

1. Exp bonus. biggrin.gif
2. I'm not -supposed- to be a human, but I came out of the portal as one. Check out my background sometime, I had fun with it.

doh.gif Yeah the experience bonus is why a lot of newbies would want to pick human and reincarnate later which I have known people to do. Humans are fun to roleplay I think because they can have the appearence of other racial features because of ancestry if they so desire.

Oh and did I mention the experience bonus, yes it is really nice. I killed rats and was still getting good experience for a long long time smile.gif
