It's awesome, really. Best game ever isn't far off.
(I don't know where YOLF is getting this living away from humanity bit though? Was that implied in the end sequence? It wasn't stated anywhere specifically IIRC, unless it said that in the movie...)

No. The RPG games go..
Chrono Trigger > FF6 > FF7 > FF4 > FF8.
Although, as far as hotness goes... FF8... Squall...

FF7 was about as good as FF6.
And FF4 -sucked.- FF5 was better.

The story line is pretty simple.
Cloud's kickin'. He's so hott, too. Vincent, three. And this chick, Aeris, is the last living Ancient - and she's all cool, and sleeps with Cloud, then this dude, Sephiroth, a Shinra experiment, finds out what he is (an experiment) and goes nuts, and starts killing people - like Aeris.
Cloud kills him, and his mother, Jenova. <3
Then Cloud goes off and lives away from humanity, and society crumbles because they've relied on Mako, which is basically the essence of Gaia.

Actually, this quote kinda makes you reconsider the storyline...
One guy(Sephiroth) causes all the ruckus and ruins the planet and what. FALSE. That was all Jenova. As we see in the freaking first hour of the game, Sephiroth dies 5 years before the game even begins.
The only time he actually APPEARS in the game, period, is when we see his corpse frozen in that block of Mako in the Northern Crater. HE'S DEAD.
The evidence is all there. JENOVA is trapped in that machine in the Shin-Ra building. She breaks out, kills the president and most of the research team, and gets the hell out of the building. The sword is a fake; a part of Jenova left to befuddle Cloud into thinking that Sephiroth is alive again(He isn't).
Every time you meet with "Sephiroth" and begin to fight, what is it you actually fight? JENOVA. That's not Sephiroth magically floating around and doing whatever, it's Jenova leading the pieces of herself around so that she can be complete again. Remember the "clones" that everyone was talking about? They're not Sephiroth's genetic clones, they're people who underwent the same procedure Sephiroth did. They're just the people of Neibelheim who were injected with Jenova cells, thus why they all go to the Northern Crater.
All evidence in the game points to Sephiroth being dead and Jenova being the real villain. Jenova is the only one with the power to summon Meteor. Jenova is the only one with the power to cause such Mass destruction. Sephiroth is just a pansy pretty-boy who serves as a figure head to get all the fanboys gasming over everything in the game."

I'm gonna have to play it again now. Thanks a LOT.

FF7 is an amazing game, but I consider it to be equal to FF3/6 and Chrono Trigger.

I dunno, I'm with YOLF in that CT was better.
(If he's trying to imply that FF4 didn't suck though, he can shove his STFU pipe up his...nose. >_>)

As long as we're clear on the fact that Magus is the most badass villain ever.
Oooh, look what I found!
"The black wind begins to blow..."
Pure pwnage.

Yeah, well, I started playing Crono trigger, and then I got bored.

Tactics barely edges out 7. The rest hover somewhere just underneath, along with the Chrone and Seiken Densetsu series.

No, Tactics is worse than 7 IMO. Tactics was frustrating sometimes...then again I played it on a really bad emulator (it was never released here, grr) and it kept lagging.
I'm gonna start on FFTA soon though.

FFX was pretty good, sure, it just wasn't one of the real best.
I'll...leave everyone else to comment on FFX-2.

Infidel.
Only good parts in FFX:
Opening 20 minutes (FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!)
Rikku undressing scene.
Cutscene where Chocobo Knights charge into the water to fight the monsters.
They should have just slapped all the cool cutscenes onto a DVD and sold it like that.

Tactics has one of the best storylines in any of the Final Fantasies, in my opinion. I printed out all 300+ pages of script and have them in a binder.

I hated the FFT storyline. Liked FFTA -much- better.
