In the real world, if someone was out to kill me, I'd be able to hire guards, or ask the police for protection.

If you can afford 'em, why not? There are security systems which call for police to come, as well.

Anyway, my reason for disliking it is that most people who do it aren't doing it for 'RP reasons', they're doing it because they're 12 year olds looking to get their sex on. I'm a fan of the 'fade to black', myself.

I'm not 'so bothered by it', it just irks me in Lusternia. I hate to think that people might be getting advanced in their guild or commune because they gave their superior teh hawt luvvin'. I know that sort of thing has happened in other IREs.

Heh, interesting where our minds go. I particularly love the speculations on how cybersex, and real sex for profit, have valid and valued places in our society, or not.

But that was just an excerpt of where I was about to suck and bite on her shoulder in an affectionate way, not necessarily a prelude to anything which, if walked in upon, would cause sudden shouts of "OH GODS, MY EYES!". I agree that doing so gratuitously takes away from the atmosphere SOMEWHAT, and at certain times, fading to black is tasteful. But on occasion, it can be a subject of valid and concerted roleplay, depending on the characters, and the circumstances.

I assure that nothing off form was about to occur, although indeed I was in the privacy of my own Manse, and untimely death wasn't necessary an expected part of the day's events.

Though, I agree with those who say I should have had Monos up, I had only had the room for about 3 hours though, so... -shrug-. There are Monoliths NOW, at least, and hey, nothing drives a lesson home like an energy blast to the skull resulting in fatal hemorrhage, no?

I'm not a fighter, as many know, I can't fight because I suck at it, but it was my home, and he HAD just attacked my fiancee', so ICly, I attacked Amaru, knowing I had no chance. But the partial Emote was just a mildly affectionate and sensual gesture in its original state, not a prelude to "t3h h4rdkor3 cyberz" as a friend so recently put it via AIM. I tried to backspace the whole sentence out of the command bar (I still use Java, so woot me.), and hadn't got it all before hitting enter to clear the bar for my next command, heh.

In any case, I'll be more careful in future, lest complete strangers kill me in my own home.
