Ah, the fine tradition of spouting a one liner with no backup to try to sound superior.

Ably demonstrated there. Well done.
Sylphas2005-09-15 15:58:02
I'm not trying to sound superior, I'm mocking you in front of others. There's a subtle difference.
Anyway, would you care to explain what nonsense is being spouted, and why it's nonsense, or should we just all trust that you know better than a thread full of people?

As it stands, Guardians are probably the most balanced classes. Let's take a quick look at a Celestine Enchanter with Tarot:
Hermit, Catacombs, Lust (awesome against Mages/Druids), Aeon, Heretic and Infidel (like 8-9 afflictions for 6p), Inquisition, Soulless, Judgement, Trueheal, Numen, Sacrifice (for 1% loss, you can resurrect a soul... this is like the most awesome skill ever... I never ever ever ever pray thanks to my Celestine/Paladin buddies), Resurrect, Stigmata (passive mana restoration is NICE), Masked afflictions (angel plus fool/enigma for Tarot), Amissio and Absolve (such beats toad curse), Beckon, Radiance (high int Celestines can easily toast liches and it is great for bash undead mobs), Farscout (the best scry-ability out there), Shroud, Star Leaper (so powerful, so under used), Lovers (stops chasm), Disenchanting (2p power = free comms!)

Too bad Nihilists don't have half of this awesome stuff.
No heretic/infidel, no inquisition. In place of this hard to pull of sacrifice.
In place of Numen - Putrefaction. Not worth the cost most of the time.
Sacrifice? No such thing. I guess we've got ghost instead.
Judgment? Nope.
Ressurect? Nope, but we've got lichdom.
Stigmata? Nope.
Absolve? Wrack instead. Cheaper but significantly harder to pull off.
Radiance? No.
What do we have? Sting, which is nice but nothing great. Ecto/epilepsy/contagion. Can't think of anything else.
It's also kind of disheartening that Celestines have skills targetted specifically at necromancers (inquisition stripping lichdom and radiance damaging liches), but we've got nothing like that.
Not that I'm ranting... maybe it's that "grass is greener..." syndrome...
But having useless skills and seeing them not changed for the second or third time now makes me sad.

Hermit, well, I guess. Same as spores, really. Catacombs I love. Lust is easy; just trigger the fool messages to enemy the flinger, and you'll see it straight off even if it's masked. Aeon, so-so. You have it. Heretic/Infidel/Inquisition - the sequence is hard to pull off, though admittedly powerful if you do. Soulless, sure. Judgement is easily stopped. Trueheal requires 1k mana and uses 10 power, and if we have that power, then we haven't been using heretic/quickening/numen/fool etc. Numen is good, yeah. Sacrifice, no-one seems to ever use. Resurrect, likewise. Stigmata is okay, but I'd rather not have the health damage as an Aslaran - it's half my sip. "Masked" afflictions if they're from an angel are easy easy easy to work out - there's only one really good thing in each pledge, and simple trigger checks can be made for the rest. From tarot, they only last three flings, and are again easily checked for. Amissio is so-so, completely stopped by shielding. If we have the power for Absolve we've also not been using feats beforehand. Beckon is good. Farscout is really no different to window, which I use more frequently. Shroud is Highmagic. If I can fling Starleaper, I can walk out, in most cases. Lovers is only good for stopping chasm, and disenchanting will get you enemied wherever you do it, so it's not as if you can just walk around harvesting sigils.

Astrology really does need some work. Despite the occasional advantages, Tarot is far, far better if you want to be even remotely involved in combat.

You do realize you can just enemy, you have to reject, then enemy? You'll have them reenemied, sure, but you'll be off equilibrium for 4 seconds.
And judging from YOUR logs, I'm not sure where you get that Inquisition is hard to pull off.

The demesne is hitting in that four seconds, and I am not.
Sure, my angel might be, but without me to supplement the offence she's no real worry.
Inquisition is hard to pull off against anyone with decent curing.

Debatable, depending on the demesne and in what time period anything happens. If the demesne effects actually hit in that 4 second period, then demesne>angel. If the effects do not hit during that time (easily possible if effects are timed), demesne

Ah yes, I'm loving the age-old debates here but I just want to thank the admin for the stag changes.
Stagcall totem. Dear god, I love you.
Removal of armour penalties from using lightning and swift stripes. I'm crying tears of joy!
My lovely medicine bag. Yay. I am pleased, yes yes.
So yes, thanks for the hard work. Wounding is still weird though. Can't we have an option of configuring wounding? Switching it between the way it was and the way it is now? Pretty please?

I, too, love the Stag changes! I can't wait to test the limits of my celerity now. I'm so used to sprinting all about. I'll have to slow it down for a while to see how fast I can walk. We need to hold more footraces now!
Sylphas2005-09-15 19:39:16
How about we just have it so it gives the absolute raw score, instead of how many wounds into a level you are?
