I really hope the change to unite means we can be expecting the same change for moonbeam.

:sigh:
You guys don't understand the meaning of scale, do you?
When comparing a warrior to an influencer, you cannot factor in a group.
It would be like comparing how filling a steak is compared to a salad, and then going "Well, after the salad, you'd have the steak, which is the main course!" Well, pffft, that destroys the whole basis of the comparrison, because that means, before the steak, you could have had salad, and both sides equal out.
The fact is, no TEAM is at a disadvantage because they all have the same things available, but yes, INDIVIDUALS are better at certain things.

To reiterate what Gregori and I were saying on GT over the new changes.
Deepbond costs 18 power to set up. Compared to Lich's 10, that's pretty bad. Of Gregori's proposal, the only thing they kept were the downgrades. I'd expected better from the admin, but whatever. Bond unite costs 2 power now, works identicle to moonbeam except has a stationary subject and is far less abuseable.
Meh, ADDing. Deepbond. Transmigrate. Same diff. Now we have to keep the animal on the same PLANE? For the record, all conceal does is mask it entering and leaving a room. Not on look. And it doesn't even work, anyway. The bonds are no stronger. In fact, this is worse than lich - any newbie can kill a fox, badger, or owl. I can be forced to bondrecall, which then leaves me open for a 0 effort instakill. It's more powerful than forcefield/chasm with divine fire up.
EDIT: I transed herbs, pick about 1,000 sparklies, a few other herbs for smudges, then dropped it for bookbinding. That feels like less of a waste than the credits put in after, what, 75% myth?

The Transmigration change was asked for. I expect because that way it costs less when dying on higher planes.
Unknown2005-09-19 23:10:47
It's an upgrade, provided you have Conglutination.
If I had it, I'd prefer it to work only on the same plane too.

It was asked for in exchange for various other grevious flaws seen in Ecology, none of those flaws were corrected, we were only given the downgrades.
EDIT: I just realized you meant because of conglute. Wow. No. As I said, it was looked upon as a downgrade (why would I want to lose ANY experience at all - I don't want to drag my little fox to Nil, while I'm trying to bash a demonlord). As I said, it was offered as a downgrade in exchange for various upgrades. I'm sure Gregori can back me up on this. It wasn't any form of upgrade we requested.

No, it's NOT an upgrade. I don't even see how anyone can *argue* it's an upgrade.

I wouldn't even touch that one, and I enjoy a good debate, especially as Devil's Advocate :whistles innocently, avoiding eye contact with his previous posts:

I have no idea who you even ARE.
I told Gregori putting downgrades in there was a bad idea. But no. He had to be the righteous envoy, and felt a balance was necessary - offer downgrades in exchange for upgrades. Meh. Worked wonders, that.

Bah, you were all saying how troublesome and costly is to get this animal and bond with it.
If you have conglutination, you only lose like what, 1-2%, and don't waste the bond dying off-plane, you keep it for prime combat where you can actually lose a lot. Seems good to me.
Ialie2005-09-19 23:16:20
How it is an upgrade? I would rather transmigarate than conglutinate........

See? The newbie with Foamy the Squirrel for an avatar won't even argue it. And, judging by the foamy avatar, he's a sadist, and the username Cult Member suggests he's really into pissing people off. And he won't even try getting into it.
I dare anyone to try and tell me how this is an UPGRADE. Or how it's even fair. Unless ghosts can't walk *off* eye-sigils, and/or I suddenly have a way to strip lichseed, no necromancer is allowed to speak. None of you.

Well, it's clearly a matter of preference, and not everyone has Conglutination, so I guess I can't call it an upgrade after all.
I, for one, would prefer it the way it is now if I only had it, that's all.

It's very simple. It's an upgrade for everyone with Conglutination who prefers to lose tiny amount of experience over the loss of bond.
Alright, I'll stop now, I'm repeating myself.

The Transmigration change was asked for by me, with enhancements to balance it out and make it so that our familiars could actually be useful to us. All that we got was the penalty to balance the upgrade. This was in no way intended and I would rather Transmigration not have been touched instead of making it so that deepbonding is a pointless endeavour.
Xavius2005-09-19 23:19:58
It would be an upgrade if, say, the system checked for conglutination before checking for deepbond. It's a bit more of a liability now.
And you mention downgrades. Like, more than one downgrade. I see one piddly downgrade and one piddly (and bugged, apparently) upgrade.

To me, being able to transmigrate with my bonded animal elsewhere was the best thing about Ecology. I am hardly a fighter smudges don't do much for me, fetishes don't do much for me. The animal bonding and everything else was what I had loved.
I am a sad Ialie.

You have necromancy. You've no opinion in this. You, for a mere 10 power, don't have to worry about experience loss anymore.
How many necromancy users would still use it if they had to keep their demon alive? And their demon could die in a single cudgel blast from me? Eh?

Ialie, would you rather spend 18 power and have to replace your bond, or spend 10 power and snuggle your bond looking for consolation when you get back to Prime?
