It makes me sad. I've been pumping all my lessons into Tracking to get to Unite.. now I wish I had put it into Athletics for Flex.

Unite is a good skill, yes.. but its MYTHICAL.. and it isn't even that good. Its local area only to initiate, and its directed at quite a weak target. How is 2 power, 200 man, 800 willpower, and like 7 second equilibrium fair? I just don't understand that at all.

I mean, Moonbeam.. come on.. before I think the skill is relatively fine, but if you think Unite deserves THIS much pain.. how in gods name has Moonbeam survived this long?

Meh, oh well, I guess its time to start focusing on Athletics.

I think it is fair that Seek, Return etc takes equilibrium, and costing some willpower, but 1200 for a seek/unite? Not to mention the power cost. It's a delayed, local area only ability and pretty much the only useful utility skill in the whole of Tracking. Would you think it is fair if Flow would cost power?  mad.gif

I admittedly don't have seek, but is it true that it works on mobiles and objects? If so, a couple of power ain't bad for it. Annoying, understandably, but I can see a reason behind it.

Especially when you can use it to shortcut quests.

so you've heard it from the horses mouth. Power and willpower cost on flow and moonbeam, please.

Because moonbeam requires two people on the same side to escape? ninja.gif

triden rarely teams, diamante rarely teams, narsrim only teams if I make him raid which then actually I am teaming since I force him to go

And that's their own choice, what's your point?

EDIT: Diamante doesn't have moonbeam either

you CANNOT use it to shortcut quests. Quest items (even the ones that are in containers) are kept in off/on-plane storage rooms that you cannot enter, and which trap your wolf.

You people made huge assumptions about the shortcutting quest stuff, because you just cannot do it.

Oh, except to find a cow that much quicker. Woohoo. 400 mana, 2 power, and 1200 willpower for that, please!

edit: I HAVE TO EDIT NOW. Diamante did have moonbeam and he raided when he had it
Unknown2005-09-20 02:18:13
Moonbeam is also very low in the skillset. Please don't forget that part.

I saw it happen. A wolf pads in sniffing for a pixie, unite, then pads back to the Moonhart, unite.

Edit: And moonbeam doesn't work on items or mobiles.

I'd just suggest splitting the ability. If you use it on a person, it requires no power, maybe takes slightly longer. If you use on an item/mobile, it requires power.
Sylphas2005-09-20 02:20:01
Unite needed something to stop it being hugely powerful from the ability to seek items and denizens. This was not it, though. If it had been made into Moonbeam, that would have been fine. But it's gone from Moonbeam++ to Moonbeam--. sad.gif
Unknown2005-09-20 02:21:15
That is a PIXIE. How hard is it to find pixies in Serenwilde? Not very. Don't use blatantly stupid examples to add a POWER cost onto an ability.

Kayde's an idiot - she's permashrubbed and IP banned.  She, infact, knows nothing.
189226

I hardly know kayde, and although her participation in the bug abuse, I hardly think being shrubbed for abuse equates to knowing nothing about the game.

Aside from that , it is rather unfortunate that ecology got its downgrade, but the arguement that it makes killing druids easy (via recall/smackdown ent) is a little weak. First they have to dominate, then recall, then wait the 5-8 seconds it takes to get the beast to you, then kill the ent. Meanwhile they are doing nothing to hinder you, while your demesne should be hitting them, and, they have to catch you on balance/eq, which if your actually doing anything should give them less than a half second window, unless your very slow, in which case you shouldnt be whining about dying in combat either way.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to Trackers, they just lost the major advantage the skillset gave, the ability to use unite unhindered. Now they just have the incredibly costly traps, and the rarity of clamp, to help them out. unsure.gif

What I'm saying is if they're good enough to raid on their own then they don't need to use moonbeam but I'm sure if they wanted to they could make a small person in the commune stand there since its such a low ability. It is their choice to raid solo does not change the fact that moonbeam is a really nice ability for those who do raid in teams and other stuff.

EDIT: and Kayde isn't permashrubbed either closedeyes.gif

He's treating a pixie like its the Tome of Remembrance. Its a pixie. I've seen total newbies catch them... they aren't all that elusive.

I said it was powerful because it could shortcut quests. You said emphatically it cannot, and I proved you wrong. If your argument is that it can't be used to shortcut a lot of quests, not all, maybe you should have said that?

Again, my suggestion would be to require power to seek an item/mobile, and none to seek a player.

Edit: It's local area only. It still lets you find exactly which room certain things are hidden, such as named clubs and letters and notes and such.
Goyel2005-09-20 02:26:20
Two words - LOCAL AREA.
