The formula was dividing by 200 instead of 100.

Nuts. I would have liked to see a few more changes to dreamweaving. The two fixes are pretty, but hardly essential. The instakill doesn't seem immediately practical, nor needed.
I wonder, could we have an additional envoy spot in each commune/city?
Thanks for those changes though.

You got an Insta-kill.. be grateful!
Shiri2005-09-22 02:37:33
Hey, insta-kill = good! I could stand an extra instakill on top of toadcurse, y'know!
Unknown2005-09-22 02:40:56
I didn't get anything, I'm not a dreamweaver.
But I do know a bit about the skill.

Oh...yea, forgot about that. >_>
If it's the same as Geb's suggestion it should be fine though, although better for druids than mages.

What was Geb's suggestion?
Geb2005-09-22 02:45:01
Besides high willpower costs, I do not see anything dreamweaving needs after those few changes were made. It is a skill-set that is actually superior to psionics and runes in player combat. I can say this, because I use to be a Dreamweaver and I know personally how powerful Deepsleep and Memoryloss (blackout) are.
Dreamweavers have the ability to decrease a person's level of rest and give instant sleep. They can also embed blackout in their demesne, while using motes to stack the blackout after they puncture the person's aura (Not that hard to do when you notice the embedded blackout hit). With the aide of Blackout and the person constantly falling asleep from being extremely tired, a mage/druid in his demesne can pretty much do what ever he wants to most people. Only the most advanced or hard hitting fighters survive something like that, and even then it is enough to make them come out of the affair in shivers.

So, nice try guys, but it appears that the probability of heftyaxe/heftblade occuring is low, and the effect trivial.
Half stats for 5 seconds on heftyaxe?
Heftyblade not working on twohanders?
Balance loss not appearing to stack?

Geb, is that an argument for why an instakill was needed?
Edit: Nah, I'm happy for the changes. Good news for dreamweavers, and I'm not going to argue about might-have-beens. Well done, Roark.

I must say the changes for Roundhouse is nice, as well as the addition of Heftyaxe, if it works a little better. Thanks, Roark!
I just conducted a rough test with Malicia (Blademistress) to test Heftyaxe, then Singollo (Pureblade) tested with Malicia for Heftysword. Basically, I let Malicia parry my attacks 10 times and see how often Heftyaxe will work.
So out of 10 parries: Malicia coule'd 8 times, and parried 2 times without coule which allowed Heftyaxe to hit.
For Pureblade: Singollo also hit Malicia's parry 10 times, she coule'd 4 times and Heftysword hit 6 times.
As for Singollo hitting my parry, Heftsword did not work at all, probably due to the fact that Axelords do not work off arm-balance. Heftyaxe, on the other hand, worked when Singollo parried my attack.
My suggestions to slightly tweak these new abilities would be: 1) increase Heftyaxe hit-rate to around the same as Heftysword, and 2) make Heftysword also works on Pureblades and Axelords.

Oh, the insta-kill is very hard to pull off alone (A bit easier for druids than mages). The person would have to be very inexperienced or inept to pull it off on him or her under normal circumstances. When I suggested it, I was thinking more along the lines of how it can be used in small groups.

I've had countless people at 1 mana when I was a dreamweaver trying to keep them from putting insomnia back up since we channel way more then we sap as dreamweavers
Narsrim2005-09-22 06:43:21
Heh. Possession is easier to pull off than eternal sleep.

Who were these people? Can you give the name of any competent healer you had at the point where he or she was at 1 mana, asleep, while you were in your dreambody and the only one attacking the person?
Thorgal2005-09-22 06:53:53
Out of hitting someone's parry 100 times, heftysword worked 10 times, and it threw the target's arm off balance for less than a second.. someone tell me what the point of hefty is? Is pureblade just bound to suck like this.. ?

Never said I had them asleep Its a real bitch to get past insomnia for me but then again I'm not the best dreamweaver. Many are better then me.
I've had Alger, Marsu, and Daganev at 1 mana but really because I couldnt do anymore to them they couldnt handle. The fact is one channel is like 400-500 willpower.

The only way I see Marsu and Alger allowing their mana to get to 1 is that they really did not place high emphasis on healing it. They really did not have anything to worry about back then. With the new skill, that is a different story. Still, you will have a very hard time meeting all of the requirements for Eternal sleep solo.
