Back to Common Grounds.

Something I just remembered.  If Earthquake was changed to not put up stonewalls and use duststorm instead, why wasn't Regrowth changed to put up storm instead of briars?
184444

Stonewalls stop the caster's getting out of where they are unless they are a winged race or have tumble, where briars don't hinder the caster and annoy/hinder allies/enemies, so I can see why that change would happen. However if the ability talks of storms the like it woud make sense for it to put up storms.

On another note, looks like Slyph is miswoven at the moment as well, sitting in the skies above Nejii for a good couple minutes while declared/enemied and ordered to kill and nothing, and its bugged

Edit: Well looks like it might be trees only from the ninja.gif from Hajamin, that or air is the miswoven part, either way I was just going by what other forestals said about it working for flying *duck*

Briars don't hinder the caster, correct.
But they tangle up every single other person, allies included (unless that's been changed while I was away, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't), making Regrowth not worth using in any kind of group situation.
Hajamin2005-09-12 10:59:16
Slyph sure did throw me out of the trees when it was ordered to attack me.

Maybe it's just bugged as far as the air is concerned, then.

Thaemorn, we've said it so many times, combat skills and balance aren't based around group combat.

Don't make me cut you in ways to make you useless to a woman boy!
Gregori2005-09-12 11:01:32
See this is where people need to learn their skills. Briars are always useful except for people who run off half cocked on their own. 2/3rds of the Communes can flow, and just over 1/3rd can moonbeam. If people would utilise the skills they have to get through forest easily more, then complaints about briar walls would vanish.

So the person flowing loses eq for 2 seconds. The 10 people following certainly do not.

Heh, I only complain about Briar walls OUTSIDE of combat, when I don't have anyone to flow to and I'm just walking through the forest writhe'ing all the way.

QUOTE(Shiri @ Sep 12 2005, 07:35 PM)
I think we might be misinterpreting it and whoever wrote it was just badly emphasising the fact that the banshee is really unlikely to kill you because she does like 400 damage.
184474

I was waiting to see how long it would take before someone realized this... doh.gif

Banshee is not an instant kill, that would be stupid. If you notice the word BUT in that sentance, it means banshee won't kill people. This was the drawback you got for it not waking them up, it can't kill. Now there is a very small chance it will kill(like if they have a weakness to psychic damage), but in general if the target's HP is below how much damage the banshee would do, it does no damage.

Just pointing out Tsakar had it wrong about Briars not hindering allies.

I'll go sit in a corner... away from Murphy ohmy.gif

Actually if you read my post, I said they don't affect the caster and annoy/hinder enemies/allies, that includes both enemies and allies

We shoot splinters that pierce the flesh. I don't get in any way how that is blunt damage. Hmph.

Although, I suppose that damage type doesn't affect combat vs mobiles at all, so really it doesn't worry me too much.

Just an interesting datapoint: that was said when celestine damage went from 100% magic to 50/50 heat/magic. Then strangely where we could kill a certain rat in one hit we now had to hit them twice. With cosmicfire.

So yeah. Go figure. Rats have heat resistance, maybe? smile.gif

QUOTE(Kaervas @ Sep 12 2005, 12:29 AM)
You point your staff at a young rat and it swells, rapidly discharging a torrent of poisonous fumes and sharp rocks into his body, engulfing flesh and spirit with deadly venoms.
A young rat turns purple as the poisonous fumes overcome him and blood gushes
out of his mouth as he collapses to the floor, dead.
You have slain a young rat.

I love love love the new staff. That's SO much better than the boulder *glee*
Laysus2005-09-12 21:44:03
Is that poison damage now, then?
Genos2005-09-12 21:45:00
It's always been Poison, Cutting, and Blunt. At least from when I started my Geomancer.

EDIT: Oh, and I think some of it is unblockable too.
Ceres2005-09-12 21:46:56
50 poison/25 cutting/25 blunt.
Genos2005-09-12 22:01:11
Nah, it says 15% Cutting, 25% Blunt, 50% Poison.
Ceres2005-09-12 22:09:09
The other 10% is cutting. It's just a mistake.
Stangmar2005-09-12 22:38:28
Seriously, with the new message, the cutting/blunt makes no sense. Change it to like 75% poison, with 25% asyphixiation or something, seeing as breathing poisonous fumes would hinder your ability to breathe.
