I've never seen or heard of this before, though I was assured by a merian that they have had it for a very long time. I tried it out, it seems to be a layer similar to trees, except below water instead of above forest.

So it only seems to work in ocean rooms without a down exit.

Anyone want to explain the purpose of this skill to me? Do Aquamancers use it like druids use trees? Or is it more like flying?

It's like burrowing below the ground, or scaling mountains.

Different elevations in the same room.
Shiri2005-09-12 06:47:51
I don't really know why you'd use that though.
Jitwix2005-09-12 06:49:33
You can scale mountains?

Where have I been the last 26 years?

Same reasons you would use burrow, I imagine. A quick escape from combat, with no dig to take you out again.

Probably the same as the rest of us, but not paying attention to the announce post issued on the subject of a new environment skill allowing one to do just that around when tracking was released.
Jitwix2005-09-12 07:08:08
Ah, so that skill is new.

I noticed dive some time ago when i was merian and it worked fine. try dive in Bondero Bay and look out on sharks there tongue.gif
Then i swiched on Igasho and was still able to dive, but when hunting skill show up i can't dive anymore cose i dotn have this skill in environment.
Ceren2005-09-12 23:27:20
Everyone used to be able to dive before merians and mugwumps got it.

At least, I think so. I'm a human and I could dive.
Archthron2005-09-17 13:37:05
The main reason I used to dive (but can't anymore) is to avoid currents in the oceans when I'm trying to get somewhere without being blasted off course. Also you can dive in Bondero to avoid the Gorgogs on the surface, although the sharks beneath the surface are almost as painful.
Vix2005-09-17 15:07:37
Spiritbond trout should give the ability to dive. ninja.gif

I wanna get at those sharks!
Ceres2005-09-17 17:36:03
Why can Mugwumps dive, but still choke on water?
Ashteru2005-09-17 18:26:37
'cause they are abominations. ninja.gif
