Aslaran and Dracnari are both pretty decent overall. Although not the 'best' mages or guardians, they won't let you down.
Tsakar2005-09-14 01:25:56
Just curious here, the guardians can be seen as a magic casting mageish guild certainly, but for celest the mage guild would be the aquamancers, which would be the closest thing in comparison to the warlocks on achaea as well (in terms of mage class, even though they differ widely), why was a guardian class said in every example, besides what he might enjoy more, or the 'holy' aspect?
Acrune2005-09-14 01:28:50
Aquamancers really don't have holy spells. We have a couple of healing demesne effects, but thats about it. When I think 'holy' I think of angels and and crusaders and stuff like that.
Unknown2005-09-14 02:33:32
That's fine to me, as my intent isn't to 'convert' my old Warlock into play here. Though oddly, my favorite staffcast has always been horripilation, so I can certainly expound upon the joys of freezing things to death. Water always has been my favorite element.
However, this time around I wanted to try something that matches my personality slightly better. In reality I tend to hold myself to a Paladin's code (something my friends tend to laugh at me for), and as a direct result, I find it easier to play characters that more closely match that tendancy.
So yeah. Aquamancers were higher in the list of things I'd want to play in this game, but seeing as I already have a Warlock in Achaea...well, y'know. ::grins::
In the end, it looks like I'll be making a Dracnari Celestine. However, before I do that, I have one last question. In Achaea, when I first created my Warlock I had the option to purchase credits for roughly a month (?) and get free skill lessons as a bonus for doing so. After that month was up, I no longer got the free stuff. Does that apply here as well? Am I going to be screwing myself out of the free lessons by creating my character now, since I can't purchase credits for a while yet?

Same thing here. And you just missed a credit sale too

Personally, I'm of the opinion that you should pick a few races you like the sound of, RP- and appearance-wise, then pick out the most appropriate one for the class you'd like, if you know.
What point is there being a race you don't like the look or general RP/history of?
And no comments from those wisecracking fighters who couldn't care less. Some of us like to RP.
And don't you choose race before class in the intro... I'm pretty sure I chose faeling with no idea what class I'd go, nor how effective it'd be. I wasn't in closed beta.

Hmmm...going over races again, I'm thinking that Aslaran and Dracnari look the most interesting to me for what I intend. Whadya think? Am I unnecessarily gimping myself?
Think about Lucidian with astrology skill, it won't be worst fighter but still good and still you will be have chance to RP nice.
I tried Imperian Merian with Enchantments and Healing, but it wasnt good enought to survive in combat. Then i swiched for Paladins, and now i'm realy happy here.
And as for credits sale for new charracters, yes its same as in Achaea.
Acrune2005-09-14 12:37:03
Merian isn't too, too terrible once you hit level ... 80 or so. I'm able to live long enough to run away from most knights now

You aquamancer, it's easier to be merian aquamancer then celestine. Staffcast is much better then cosmicfire so you can kill faster and demesne can heal you in same time, plus this skill that give a bit health over your max, i dont know it name.

Right, well. Still haven't gone in game, so I'm not one of the many newbies flooding the Portal of Fate. ::grins::
Instead, I'm still doing research on anything I can find in these blasted forums. Right at the moment I'm trying to find out if there's any more backstory/history about the races anywhere (Dracnari in particular), along with anything I should know about the Celestines.
Why am I not in-game? I'm trying to hold off until I manage to either secure myself a means of getting some credits or get a larger flow of cash in order to purchase some (when a credit sale occurs anyway). This of course means it could be a while. We'll see how long my patience lasts, heh.
So what am I missing and where can I find it short of going in-game?

There are the histories. They don't reveal much about the races themselves, but are still helpfull with just about everything else history wise.
And, I might add, are just absoluetly fraking amazing!

The Dracnari are the shards of Dracnoris, who was in the circle of Meditators, however, he was also a Primal God, so, a bit.. unstable in his very being. As a result, the Dracnari are somewhat like chaotic Confucians, which really shows in the histories.

Well, that was fairly interesting. Only the overview of the Empire caused me to start glossing over what I was reading. Pity the History of the Elder Wars is incomplete though, would have been useful information I'm sure.
Nevertheless, that did little to cover what info I need regarding the Dracnari and Celestines. Specifically, how varied are the Dracnari in terms of personality, temperament, and appearance? What kind of society do they typically live in, or are home to? Are they xenophobic or friendly? What about Celestia? From what I read, the angels and other native entities to the plane appear to be basically simpler versions of mortals, thus making them more pure and very heavily aligned toward good. What kind of variety is found within the guild itself? What kind of role do we play in the game and the world? How do we protect ourselves from our enemies, and in what manner do we channel/wield the power we use?
The website does a fairly decent job of providing a basic overview of things, but it doesn't go particularly in depth alas. Sorry if I ask too many questions, I tend to be fairly inquisitive when it comes to worlds I don't know. ::grins::

Firstly, just to help in my opinion with the developement of your rp. there is no good and evil in Lusternia. While the light falls into the typical idea of "good" and the taint as "bad," we don't actually have any good or evil. But it is perfecrtly great for you to go ahead and build up a character that sees the light as "good." just remember that that is a view, not actuality.
There are no set ways for dracnari to be. Most of what we know is eitehr in the dracnari file, or teh histories. From my memory, I think they tend to be fun loving and slightly chaotic. that in no way has to define the way you act out your character.
As for the oterh stuff, a celestine would better answer those, of you could find out by diving in.

Well I think reading the records leading up to Project Cosmic Hope about Gaudi and after ones relating to the city would give a good impression on how they might be seen or act, their personality/temperment and the like. From what I've read they seen more friendly then xenophobic (didn't seem xenophobic at all actually, besides their dislike for the lucidians of Hallifax/Hallifax in general).
I think Dritex also said it nicely in that there is no 'good' or 'evil' in lusternia, those are terms that were brought over from other realms and categorized the two main sides of a difference as them, such as taint is 'evil' or the light is 'good', where really there are many shades of grey.
Old Celest was also a city of the light, and their thurst for power (though for a perceived good cause, of cleaning the basin) and ignoring of warnings ended up in the releasing of the taint of Kethuru. Also one of the main reasons the taint was 'bad' or so-called 'evil' was because it was controlled by Kethuru's will and manipulated those controlled by it, the severing of Hallifax and Gaudi from normal time and their respective planes seperated the taint as we know it from Kethuru's will, removing that factor.
So yeah its all a matter of perspective and rp, if you ask a Celestian what the taint is they would probably say something like its a blight on the land that mutates and corrupts whatever it touches and needs to be cleansed/removed/destroyed, if you ask a Magnagoran they would say its a tool of change, through it and sufferings may caused because of it lead to them becoming stronger, a tool to strengthen themself and enact change, hence the engine of transformation.
But anyhow to end the overlong post and apologize for rambling on, its all a matter of how you want to perceive and rp it

I'm a Dracnari Celestine, and It's amazing, there is some really fun Dracnari RP for race, and as far as I know, you can find dracnari everywhere. For RP, the healing and basking to remove afflictions ability is fun for me, just for messing around. The Con stat is nice, and you can crank it up a few points with blessings and Astrology (Not sure?).
I can't say about combat with Dracnari Celestine yet (Yes, yet!) but I would imagine the speed would eventually get to you, or become noticeable, in comparison to mugwumps or merians etc. But as a Faeling... the extra hp is so much more fun to have than the speed bonus, but that is just my opinion. Best of luck on your character!

Guardian Dracnari is very good for bashing. Point on Aesyra, she was Dracnari when she become Demigod. And a lot of top ranked people was Dracnari.
And as for fighting, there isnt realy good Dracnari guardian fighter, so it hard to tell.

I was afraid of that... you save and save for credits... and just before you decide to jump on your one chance to get creds and attempt to join the PvP. . . you miss the sell and get told there isn't really a good Dracnari fighter.
My dreams are doubly crushed...
