First experience? (NOSTALGIA TIME)

Been thinking about back in open beta and when the game was still young, and being overwhelmed by nostalgia. Fun. Out of curiosity, what were some of your first experiences upon joining Lusternia, for all you old folks? Back before every 3rd person had a GNT trigger set up and no one was above CR2.

When I first created Guido I stepped out the portal of fate, into a firewall, and died. Then I came back to life, stepped out into a firewall, and died. I then vowed to quit the game, but came back a day or two later. Lisaera made fun of me for the very first time when the commune held a meeting with Her at the Moonhart, a sign of things to come, and I had a good time in Newton with level 3 slower balance and newbiekicks. Couldn't get my grubby paws on a weapon...

I remember being a young aquamancer and I was exploring with Shiri on the waterplane and before I knew what was going on I was dead because Visaeris killed me.

I remember Aeto getting me lost while trying to train me and Raevyn answering a a tidal wave of my annoying questions with a smile.

I remember being a moondancer having just learned my skills and then Visaeris killed me. There were no doors on the guildhall!

Am I the only one that Visaeris didn't kill and actually took the time to stop and talk to?

I was a newb in the first days and I remember some episodes.

Like when I went out of the portal for the first time and just didn't know what to do. There were so many people there at Avechna's peak. I decided to go out and I'm walking and walking and thinking wtf, am I going in circles? Then I got to the Avechna at the peak and was like wow, dead end, how do I get out of here?

I also suicided my first character who got those free neocredits, and created new one on the next day, no neos! Ah, the drama...

When I was in Magnagora, someone challenged Visaeris' "laws" and Visaeris came to the Megalith (I was there too) and just killed him in one shot. I was like, "Wow."

And when we were going by the road with Gruhk looking for exp, and we found a pilgrim. So we're like, "What do you think, should we try?" "Well dude, I don't know...". And then some guy comes in, hits the pilgrim, pilgrim hits back, guy's dead. Soul of Guy says, "Shiiit...". "No, let's go find something else". laugh.gif

Or how we were bashing the mighty Estelbar farmers. They were dangerous! I'm enemied to Estelbar to this very day.

Or when some guy called Raphael killed me one room from the Megalith when I was talking to Ekard IRL. He's like, "Look, someone's killing you." I look, I'm dead.

And this post is getting too long.

Yes, nostalgia. wub.gif

I was an Aquamancer that became an Undersecretary, and showed people how to do stuff in the learning room thing... you know, below the training kiddy pool. Then I tested my demesne in the pool thingy, because it amused me.

My Visaeris death story is quite funny.

He was raiding Serenwilde, so I hauled my level 15 self up to defend the forest. Hah. I hit his rebounding twice, got nailed by one amissio, and then webbed and wracked.

I remember not knowing about PORTALS, and spending about three hours just exploring and mapping. It wasn't all bad, of course, I've got some pretty good maps, and I could run all sorts of places in record time.

I also remember asking Visaeris if I could have some Power, if I promised to put it back, so I could use my trade skill (Enchantment, at the time). He said no. So I told him to go :censored: himself. Much later. After he logged off.

I remember being taught by Nejii... or rather, having him try to explain stuff to me while I completely ignored every word he said and tested every skill I had instead dry.gif Then he got my attention by insisting I learned the wrong amount of lessons, and I had blush.gif

My first experiances are sad... so sad I wont even talk about them

By the way, my initial teacher in the Serenguard was Stagar. unsure.gif

Ah, memories.

Closed beta: Calcesco gave me a hamster pet that could teach any skill, I was hopelessly lost without maps, I hoarded thousands of comms and buried them in the hopes they wouldn't reset in open beta (I heard Roark had to manually delete them later tongue.gif), I bankrupted Serenwilde's ministry of trade, I was buddy-buddy with Nikua, Visaeris was madly trying to figure out the ebonglom wyrm quest.

Open beta: Pushing around newbies, dying to newbies with cosmicfire, being in the serenguard, somewhat hitting it off with Allysandra, thinking tae'daes were badass, whipping up some roleplay, and having newton be overcrowded.

Oh, I remember hunting on water with Shiri and having him be my lesson guide because I had no clue what to learn in and daydreaming about the shop that I wanted since I first came out of the portals. I actually got it too, it was a tough auction tough because Skyla and Tuek had their minds set on it to...went up to about 800k when credits were like a thousand each.
Munsia2005-09-13 23:23:57
Aha i will say this.. I was one of those people you yelled at for killing bolt banger and mother mucka ninja.gif there was a group of three from seren that sat at them both and killed them just to piss people off and I was in that group. I forgot the peoples names though sad.gif
Maedhros2005-09-13 23:25:41
I remember bashing my first Fink with my shortswords for like 5 minutes, then some Mage comes, kills it in 1 hit, says "Oops" and leaves the room.

Oh, oh! I also remember everyone mass killing Furloch. I was like level 50 at the time though...
Ialie2005-09-13 23:25:46
I remember when people were killing people over rats.

I remember when Val was the gem nazi who told the rest of the jewelers he sold his crowns for 75k when most likely he sold for much less, and only told us that so we wouldn't make sales.

Unknown2005-09-13 23:27:06
I always screamed at people for killing the quest mobs and then did it myself when no one was looking. Hypocrisy = Good XP!

Also, I remember an Ur'guard named Kyle who was only around for a few days. He bought a ton of credits, transed blademaster, and waiting for people to enter the room. Right before they could turn in their corpses he would kill the mob and laugh.

Ah! I remember that too...I think he was the first to buy a jeweler's hammer...which really changed things unsure.gif ..but if it wasn't him I'm sure it would have been someone else.

I remember Val! Man, he was such a badass.
