Where the magic comes from, and what the 'real life' view of a dance is doesn't really matter at all, the point of that line of discussion is the balance and how it can be seen as unbalanced and cheap. But hijack aside, as Alger said it is most likely/obviously a bug that he has bugged, it is a new skillset and things happen

first my point is that if these were ritualistic one of the ab files would mention it. i did a quick check and did not see the word ritual mentioned once (i may be wrong though) so there is no ground for your claim that they are ritualized may be wrong.

Don't know much about distortion but remember flow and conclave are not blocked but a mono. The distortion field would be stronger because it is fueled by power and the like, while a mono is just a sigil a small protective device in someway similar to rooting and red(protecting those in the room similarly).

final point, flow and conclave are instant but restriced (keep in mind that a conclace calls ALL members of a coven to the leader only for five), teleport/tesseract/summon have a concentration requirement but can go nearly anywhere except where there is a monolith so if monoliths didn't exist you could go anywhere any time aslong as your target doesn't move.

please remember that while moonbeam has no power cost, and you are able to move. if your in a small zone you can't leave that zone. So if you wanted to beam to someone in magnagora you need to be there first, i'm going to guess that if you were to accidentaly leave the zone while dancing you'd fail.
I think i made the suggesstion before that it should become more like the other moon dances.
i.e
Full Moon = Can beam anywhere on the same continent and plane
Waxing/Waning Moon = Can beam local area only
New Moon = Un-usable

Flow is blocked by Distortion - as is EVERY OTHER MEANS OF TELEPORTING. Conclave isn't because it isn't initiated by someone in the distortion field - that it works on people inside the field seems an obvious bug to me, or more likely an oversight that the admins are too busy to deal with right now.



Conclave is NOT instant, it is essentially a summon cast on all members of the Coven by the Coven leader.

Bob has a friend.

We'll call the powerful denizen Elisheranil.
Elisheranil lives on the Plane of Raidbait.
Bob and Sue both go to Raidbait, to the room just outside where Elisheranil lives.
Bob begins to Beam to Sue.
Bob counts to 11 (assuming monoliths at both Sue and Elisheranil, 5 otherwise).
Bob goes south, to Elisheranil's room, and hits her.
The Moonbeam then finishes, instantly, before Elisheranil can attack.
Bob is beamed back to Sue.
Even though he is off balance.
Even though he started the Beam in Sue's room.
Bob is beamed back to Sue, perfectly unharmed.
Bob begins to Beam to Sue.
Bob counts to 11.
Bob goes south...

I hope you get the picture now, on why Beam is broken and overpowered, and should be fixed.

Also, the idea about making it follow Rage rules - if that's ever implemented, I will... Hmm, threats aren't allowed on this forum, right? Well, let's just say it's one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard, and I've heard a lot of dumb ideas. It's unbalanced, unfair, overpowered, and has no reason to exist.


Please stop talking about skills when you don't know what they do.
Please stop talking about how to make things balanced when you have no idea what the skills are, how they are used/abused, or what makes a skill strong or weak.

I'm a "Moonie" and I know that Beam is broken in certain ways No beaming in manses, and movement stopping moonbeam, and I'll be happy

I had asked Moonbeam to be changed to work on the same line as serpent in the envoy report as to prevent it from being used offensively like it had in the past, but still doesn't lose any of its flexibility. Let's hope it goes through to make all sides happy.
