What if undead denizens responded better to lower charisma than higher charisma? Ie, they don't care about a generally charismatic appearance, charm, suave, and intelligence... they probably respond better to direct threats and unsubtle statements. They would also not be thoroughly disgusted by the taint.

So nerf faelings?
Edit: That is, Glomdoring, with our lovely cloaks that let us speak to the dead.

Hmm, forgot about that.
Why don't I just stop suggesting things about magnagora.

Heheh, it's starting to sound like a good idea.

You can keep going, but it applies equally to all races. Orclach, Taurian, Dwarf, Krokani, etc.
Asarnil2005-09-24 04:28:33
Not to the same extent though. There is a large history of demonic beings being very beautiful in appearance, whereas Taurian for example tend to be rough and bestial.

Viscanti aren't demons, first of all. Aren't minotaurs often depicted as very masculine and appealing?

No. Where are you looking?

Try reading the Jane Routley trilogy (Mage Heart, Fire Angels and Arimisia).

I was replying to the part where KidHendrix said that they were twisted, demonic-looking beings. The point I was trying to bring across, is just because they changed from their original racial forms, it doesn't mean that what they "twisted" into means they have to look like they are one of the Greater Demons of Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh or Tzeentch (Warhammer 40k references) but instead may actually look like Demonic and much more pleasing to the eye, which according to what the Divine have said about them, and the racial pictures available on the Lusternia site, is the actual true "twisted demonic" look they have.

Viscanti do not have a disadvantage.
They can be faster now then they were before. Even a Brood Viscanti can hit 15 Charisma with Populus, Netzach, Blessing, and Throne.
15 Charisma = faster enough to beat the mobs response.
Viscanti do not have a disadvantage.
End. Of. Story.

Although a rare handful of tainted are likely quite pleasing to look at, such as Rowena, the majority are twisted, ugly, disgusting little ****s. Asarnil, you seem to have mixed up the fact that Viscanti think they are beautiful and whether anyone else does. Just like people with tattoos all over their body and 900 piercing think they are 'beautiful' and everyone else thinks they're crazy.
Viscanti, for the most part, are taint obsessed. They love it. It represents change, power, evolution... it put the 'transformation' in 'engine of transformation'. Thus, they are sure to look upon their malformed, putrid bodies and say, "This is change, this is power; I am beautiful!". Let me quote Rowena!
She speaks, not of physical beauty, but the beauty present in power and the might of the taint/Kethuru. I imagine a lot of them see it in a way not completely different.
So, the Viscanti are proud, charismatic, egoistical... but for the most part, pretty ugly, although they think differently.

I shall be a Queen in this new order. All shall bow and serve me--for am I not as beautiful as I am terrible? Am I not as powerful as I am glorious?
QUOTE
The time for weakness is over. Let the forests fall under the sway of Mother Night and Crow, newly born into something greater than they were. I too am remade and I shall go forth and all who see my beauty will love me or be destroyed. But who could not love me? My beauty is now beyond compare.

Wrong.

Edit: Just something I think some have failed to notice. According to my understanding by what Estarra said, Viscanti can be both grotesque and drop-dead gorgeous. The beautiful ones were of more respect among the Viscanti, while the grotesque normally would end up being exiled from a place of beauty... or if they were powerful enough, they'd stay within Magnagora and concealing their horridness with a mask (think of the Phantom of the Opera. I think that the Viscanti world meant to uphold superficial beauty quite high, especially if it was theirs.
You are exactly right.
They don't THINK they're beautiful, they *are*. The ones who aren't beautiful mostly get shunted aside to the mines.
Unknown2005-09-24 23:04:43
But beauty =! equal charisma in every circumstance. And your idea of beauty is not necessarily my idea.
I mean, come on - what's hotter than a white boy, with a light tan, dirty-blonde hair, ice-blue eyes, six or eight-pack abs, and a totally hairless bod? Mmmm. I can't think of ANYTHING. THAT'S beauty.
Richter, however, would totally disagree.
While I think we can all agree a big fuzzy bear is pretty cute, and so is an energetic little faeling. At least, to the every-day denizen.
