I meant a bit -more- damage? Like 500 each tick? So that they...you know...go in, OUCH! and go out again?
It should -SUPPORT-, not take over the work.

I can tank worldburn if I go defensive and heal. I don't have anywhere near the health of some knights. 500 damage every 12 seconds or so isn't going to even the odds. It already does like 300 damage, I think.

There is no hope for you. None. You've never done it.
You remind me of those Holiday Inn commericals.
"My name is Ashteru and I just killed a Demon Lord because I slept at a Holiday Inn last night." We can sit around and make theories about how under perfect conditions, it would be easy to defend against a raiding party; however, that's rarely if ever the case. You can read in a book how to perform open heart surgery... does that mean you can do it?

I never defended a place? Nuhuh, Sir. That's a bit wrong.
And I am not American or somethig, so I don't know that commercial, sorry.
...but I could kill one if I slept there? interesting offer...
Oh yeah, and a comment: If that skill so sarks that I never saw it while I was on Celestia, it really needs some overhaul.
Narsrim2005-09-25 21:45:54
And Ashteru, you have already basically said that you are just going to argue because you don't want to have "a skill you paid for" downgraded. I don't see why you are continuing to throw up ideas when you are ignoring the dynamic, realistic scenario that does not have perfection conditions. You argue as if it is a team of 10 equal persons versus 10 other equal persons. It isn't.

I am talking about 500 damage each time you can sip.
I saw somewhere that Ixion sips about 900 for health. so, suddenly, he only sips for 400. I sip for around 500...I sip for naught. It's suddenly a -LOT- more complicated to kill something if you can't sip for health.
But you could increase it to 900 too, so that it negates health and sparkleberry.
Another 150 so that it negates mercy.
Really, I just mean it should remove all ability to heal up, I think that would be nasty enough.

A skill nearly everyone who has it paid for. That's a difference.

However, who cares if you sip for nothing and die? I imagine most of the Supernals could kill you in a single room attack. Yet, you claimed your "purpose" was to just walk in the room, attack, die, conglutinate, repeat. The point is to establish a disadvantage...

Here's a situation:
10 Mags raid Celestia. 5 vastly weaker Celestians defend. The Celestians are slaughtered and those without conglutinate have to pray, despite the fact that Celestia is their home turf.

What exactly does that matter? Skills are tweaked all the time. Some are upgraded, some are downgraded. It doesn't matter that you paid for them. In fact, that's irrelevant. What is important is overall game balance. If you are incapable of understanding that then you are likely one of those people who favors the 10,000cr death rod where you can just zap people and they die - you did, afterall, pay for it.

Narsrim, now you are twisting my words. I said that I don't raid, too. I am giving some examples of -better- ideas instead of just omgomg, remove conglutinate, omgomg.
make that skill I suggested give the defender conglutinate too, call it something like 'the beautifull but yet deadly light of Celestia' and give it a 1000-2000 powercost. Voila.
Much more dynamic and fun than just having to pray and hunt for another 30 hours to regain waht you lost.

Now now, I am all for overpowered Artifacts, but that would be too much for even me.
Aye, game balance is important. So, why do you balance it so much in favour of the defender? And since you started to say some nasty things about me....of COURSE you don't care if you have to pray. You got 6 levels for doing NOTHING, just logging in.

We wouldn't be in business very long if this happened frequently, but as it is a world, your actions have consequences, and the actions of others can result in consequences for you. It's this dynamism in the nature of the world that people enjoy about Lusternia. Thus, it is possible that the perceived or real value of the things you purchase with credits, or your ability to use those things, may both rise and decline during the course of play.

I don't mean to be insulting but you are apparently ignorant of game mechanics across the board. When you raid an enemy village, you pray. When you die in a home village, you conglutinate. When you die in an enemy city, you pray. When you die in a home city, you conglutinate.
The only case where this rule doesn't hold true is Etherwilde/Etherglom; however, they are off-prime but still have guards/totems so the massive defense increase counters. Celestia and Nil, however, aren't even considered home turf for some bizarre reason. They should be. My idea for an investable power is not anymore unreasonable than village distortion.

See, my idea would actually be a LOT more evil for raiders, since they couldn't heal. Sure, they would conglutinate, but would YOU fight somewhere where you have absolutely NO chance at all?
Give that skill I said a 50 powercost, I don't care.

And as someone who actually raids, I think your idea is misplaced and formulated from the perspective of someone who has no idea what raiding is even like as you have quite clearly indicated that you either don't raid or self sacrifice for a single attack.
If the idea is to establish a disadvantage, the risk of experience is the way to go. It takes a long time to get back. It has long term. Your idea would basically reduce fighting Demon Lords from a task of skill to just hit/die/conglut/repeat. I object to such as it degrades any worth to the task.
Unknown2005-09-25 22:21:52
You are acting like if conglutination was put in that a 300 cr skill would be made useless. Seriously there are two other planes you could use your little skill on and the fact that he is suggesting 1000p for one hour still makes it vastly different and the 300cr skill superior. In my opinion this probaly wont even help much since all they have to do is wait a hour or in the case of the last raid I died 5 times in the opposing force is just stronger so it doesnt really matter what you have.
Ashteru2005-09-25 22:24:03
Oookay....let me just say: I really don't care anymore.
Really, you can decrease raiding all you want...but please....pleasssse make it elegant...
You could've had so many Ideas...really
1) Move Cubix exits to the nexi
2)Let them post guards everywhere on that plane.
3) Make an ability to make on Ubershrine per plane that takes 1 or 10 million gold to defile
4)Let them get afflictied each tick or something, by something nasty like that powersucking thing
...but you chose to just take away a transcendent skill...

I think some people only put the 300 credits into that skill to make raiding easier. And 1000 power aren't as hard to regain as you might think, as Xenthos little thing showed.
