Often instead of 600 you'll sip for 350.
Unknown2005-09-29 21:01:15
I sip for 450 average at level 78. Laysus says he sips for 900-1000. That's the difference between Faeling and Viscanti for you, just as an example.
Ekard2005-09-29 21:04:25
So level 2 sip is around 40%? I cant belive this.
And Laysus is trans alchemist.
Just do some tests, how much you heal of your max health.
I with no disadvantage heal for 20%+-few percents of my max health.

The best way to do this is probably with Nayl's calculator. Although I'm not sure if the formula changed or not, it seemed pretty accurate with what I generally healed for.

Well then, let's do the math! First, we'll start with a post from Terenas:
QUOTE(terenas @ Jan 10 2005, 11:35 AM)
This information I recieved was from a while ago in Achaea, so it might not be accurate, or accurate at all.
Someone once mentioned to me that the curing formula for health or mana (possibly bromide too) is-
{(maxhealth * .15) + 100} * (.8 to 1.2)
So for example, someone with 2000 health would sip from-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * .8 = 320 -> Min
to-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * 1.2 = 480 -> Max
I think the healing penalty for a Dracnari might accounts for a -.2 to the last number that's multiplied by the sipping constant. So a Dracnari with 2000 health would sip for-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * .6 = 240 -> Min
to-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * 1.0 = 400 -> Max

Comparing a level 63 imperial merian to a level 63 master viscanti:
Merian max hp and sip range:
2442; 292-439
Viscanti max hp and sip range:
3198; 192-383
Terenas2005-09-29 21:15:53
Nah, that's wrong it's actually this-
{(maxhealth * .15) + 100} * (.8 to 1.2)
So for example, someone with 2000 health would sip from-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * .8 = 320 -> Min
to-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * 1.2 = 480 -> Max
Viscanti sip penalty-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * .64 = 256 -> Min
to-
(2000 * .15 + 100) = 400 * .96 = 384 -> Max
Merian sip average- 320 to 480
Viscanti sip average- 256 to 384
This isn't taking into account the fact that Master Viscanti will always have more health than an Imperial Merian at the same level.

And you realy should.
Not many is 70+ Imperian Merians.

You also failed to take into account the fact that Imperial Merians will take less damage than Master Viscanti when the damage is not effected by either races' resistances/penalties. Since isn't damage effected by max health.
Ekard2005-09-29 21:29:44
Daevos you should od more tests and take avarage from this.
Ceren2005-09-29 21:30:13
I've played a xoran in achaea and a viscanti alt here. Sip penalty has a huge effect on tankiness.
Ixion2005-09-29 21:30:28
The sipping penalty is by far one of the worst possible racial disadvantages. Even as a dracnari I felt it bigtime, and when I was a viscanti I felt it even worse.
I do feel Elfen need a disadvantage to balance things out. And I dislike how utterly superior they are in influencing.

Your "huge" penalty is detailed above (correctly, this time). When combined with a superior regen rate in a terrain that's much more widespread than the merian regen terrain (and works in demesnes) and resistances in place of weaknesses, it evens out pretty quickly. Although, there might be grounds for saying that you're less resilient than a high elfen in a long fight.

Yup, I do realize that. But the fact also remains that all types of damage have some % of it that is not blockable by any defenses. If both a Master Viscanti and an Imperial Merian have the same defenses, obviously the Viscanti will take more damage, but would the damage over time outweighs the extra 1k+ health the Viscanti have over the Merian or vice versa? I honestly don't know, but if someone can test, I'd like to see the results.

Not getting the same numbers at all. You're forgetting to add 100 to .15 of maxhealth.
