If you were not accepted as a guide during this round, you are free to apply again, come the next request from the Moirae asking for them. (As for ex-guides that want to be considered for being reinstated...well, it couldn't hurt to message the Moirae and let Them know. Good ex-guides have a great chance of being picked, when more guides are needed.
However, don't expect your application to be taken very seriously if you have not met the following:
The standard requirements (such as time played).
If it seems you would not have the time, or patience for dealing with newbies (if you play 5 hours a week, you won't want to spend most of that as a guide) (Being prone to annoyance from repetitive questions, or a general sense of being arrogant or mean, that makes the newbies feel like crap and not want to return)
Or if it seems you have no grasp on policy, yourself. (Making newbies to harass the guides, for example.)
Otherwise, good luck with your applications.

So that's why I was rejected. Damn!

Hah, I am -none- of that! ...at least I like to think that.
You all suck, I am the best! AHAHAH!
And now, let's go and make fun of the guides and call them names!
Oi, wait...

I'm totally gonna spend 5+ hours a week on Jack now, solely answering questions on the "newbie" channel, just to spite those damned guides. Mwahaha.

I can't wait to break Jacks legs again.

None of that is called for (especially you, Ye of little faith).
You must remember, besides the previously listed situations, dozens of reports are sent in each call, and there might only be a need for 5 or 6 guides. Not everyone can make it. If you do think one of the previously listed situations could explain why you were not picked, however, work on fixing it.
After all - there is always next time.
P.S. - Jack, the guides have been given the ability to make you their slaves. And last I heard, Bobbins has quite the S&M streak...

Aww, come on...we are only joking. At least I am. No need to always be so formal...

Seeing as how I've finally figured out you like to bait me, I'm not going to flip out.
However, that particular incident was when I had a perfectly acceptable name, and the person playing that guide was being unreasonable. If a god tells me something, they usually have a reason for it, if a player-controlled guide tells me something (that I think is wrong), I'm going to debate them a bit on it. I can't remember what it was all about, but the log was amusing at least to me.

I did guide work on Achaea and in order to do anything like that ever again I'd have to be paid quite handsomly and quite disproportionate to the work I did.

Back to Ixion's original post, word of mouth brought me to Lusternia (I play Njal, the newbie Ur'Guard). I have been involved in sales for much of my adult life, and know for a fact that word of mouth is the most powerful advertisement.
Perhaps a modest bonus (say, 5-15 Neocredits) for bringing new people in should be awarded if said new person purchases credits; it could bring new people and support the game at the same time.

Technically that's what the idea of commune/guild credits is for.

Not only that, but Mentor Bonus' too.
