Race/Class

Hi everyone. I know this is going to be a question that's been asked before but this game seems a bit complex, and I'm frankly a little intimidated. I was curious as to what an effective race/class(archetype?) combination would be. What I'm looking for is something that is very heavy on the bashing with the option to PK later, but without having to buy $2000 worth of credits. glare.gif

Not looking to be OMGUBER!!!! ...just looking to not get slapped around at every turn.

I'm coming from Achaea, where I play a human runewarden. I'm frankly just getting a little worn down from all the snuggling and I hear tell Lusternia has higher quality RP. If you guys could offer any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. Unsure how Archetypes work, too, but hopefully I'll piece it together soon.

Keep in mind that you have a free reincarnation, so you can choose a good race to bash with first, and switch to one more suited to PK later if you wish.

I'd say a Mugwump Druid or Mage would be best for bashing, though you won't be able to take much damage. Perhaps Human for the better experience gain, or Lucidian for a combination of constitution and intelligence...

Anyway, you just need to get to Cudgel if you go Druid, and Staffcast for Mages, for somewhat godly bashing. This is definitely possible without credits, if you only put lessons in their main skill. (Druidry, Geomancy, etc.)

But, on the other hand, it's hard to fight as a Mage or Druid without credits, and you'll still die to Warriors somewhat easily. Hm..maybe Guardian for combat without credits? Haven't been anything but a Druid in Lusternia -shrug-

I'd say Guardian for bashing without credits. Then again, bashing as s Moondancer or Shadowdancer is very nice once you get Nymph and Sprite.
Shiri2005-10-01 06:16:52
I'd say Wiccan bashing beats Guardian bashing easily. Especially without credits. Nymph/sprite ROCK. (And in the Moondancers there are people who will lend those out if you ask.)

I would say pick a race and class based on the type of roleplaying you want to do.

Roleplaying will be the deciding factor. smile.gif I just want to know what I'd be getting myself into. I love to play warriors and wizards primarily, but I'm playing a warrior at the moment and I need to work 3x as hard as the other classes to be on par. If I have to do that in two games, I'll explode.

You do...but only as a newbie. sleep.gif Warriors are great for fighting, and they're good at bashing at high levels, but at low levels (unless they ninja-tweaked something recently) you're messed up.

You guys are great, you know that? OK!

So lets pretend for a second I'm going to be a warrior. What would be a good race?

RP wise I'm most interested in are...

Tae'Dae
Lobo
Human
Dracnari
Orclach

Ideas? Suggestions?

Okay, what specialisation would you be going for?
From the races you listed, your best bet would be going the, 'extra damage' route, but that's just an assumption based on the races statistics (High Str in a few)
Unknown2005-10-01 07:47:43
My Mugwump druid was level 53 when she got prompted out of Novicehood.. so yeah -very- fast bashing if you know where and how. After 65 it'll slow down though, because you won't be able to tank the good exp mobs.

Aside from that.. race/class really depends on what you want to do, but also on what guild skills you'd specialise in.

I think bashing as a novice warrior isnt anymore paint in you know what.

Yea warriors are realy cool here, so much specializations:
4 weapons specializations, <- primary guild skill

for second guild skill:
2 rituals specializations for cities,
4 specialization for communes,
and Hunting+Tracking for both,

and third:
only Athletics is common for all warriors.

And also Aslaran is great for speed warrior or Shadowlord faeling if you will pick up Ebonguards.
And Igasho for damage knight!

You have realy lot of choices.
I would make few alts and see how evrything is working and then make main one.

Or if you know who you would like to be, go with you main.
tsaephai2005-10-01 11:18:37
heheh. i think it's neat how faelings kindof became the main race for glomdoring, so now it's
serenwilde-elfen
glomdoring-faeling
magnagora-viscanti
celest-merian
and those people pretty much are everyone.

Thorgal help me convince these disbelievers!
Shiri2005-10-01 15:00:53
Has anyone actually tried a furrikin warrior since Alkriz? halo.gif 17 DEX and all...

Can I get a WORD here!
Thorgal2005-10-01 16:08:26
You're better off as an unspecialized faeling warrior than furrikin.
Shiri2005-10-02 03:01:21
This is true. Hmm. Ah well.
Terenas2005-10-02 03:39:09
A fellow Runewarden. biggrin.gif

If you're going the damage-warrior route, you'll realize it's a lot more feasible here. You should get a good look at each race's penalties and bonuses before choosing as well, but personally if I was going to get a warrior race (that's not a specialized race) I'd go with Taurian, Igasho, or Lobos.
silimaur2005-10-03 12:24:32
also remember that different races have different bonuses with the warrior specialization, igasho are better with blademaster etc
