As does Forestcast center, Guido.

Yes, they do, it's called flow, get monolith, tell wiccan wisp them.
Wisp and Flow are the reason that raiding the cities is so much easier than raiding the communes.

Not really very viable, considering flow's recovery time.

What are all the "magical forms" of transportation?
This is the list off the top of my head, what am I missing?
Teleport
Summon
Tesseract
Flow
Wisp
Beckon
Demense Summon
Unite
Recall
Via
PathFinding
Nexii
Rifts
Totem Return
Spores
Hermit
Anything else?

I don't use Flow or Via, so I am a little more objective. And I agree with Mali, they should not be compared.
- Flow is the single most valuable and useful form of transportation. Anyone who says it is not is completely biased. It is readily available, instant, unhindered, plane-wide and you can move a large army with it. If you compare the usefulness of it to other forms of plane-wide travel like Teleport (3p), I think adding a 1p cost to it seems more than reasonable for the benefits it provides.
- Via in its current form is rather useless. Expanding it to include urban non-enemied areas seems too handy, especially for a low-level skills. I would suggest making it a real highway travel skill by letting it transport people to one room outside specific villages. Like if you are anywhere on the highway, CHANT VIA ESTELBAR will move you to the highway room just outside Estelbar, without the need of a target.

leave flow the way it is, the however make it stoppable when affected by certain mental afflictions.
Moonbeam is fine since it's area only.
circles should produce have a limit on how many they produce
and should only produce more when below that limit.
was the seek/unite problem ever resolved?
I like Icarus idea of ahving Via send you to outside villages.

I wouldn't object if flow was changed to not allow player entourages, but I would feel so bad for the poor Serenguard who rely on us to zoom them about.
Kiarlea2005-10-06 05:11:16
Unless, of course, like the rest of the commune, you think we can flow, too.
Terenas2005-10-06 05:18:35
At least Moon Serenguards can beam, Stag Serenguards are just screwed for any other transportation skills aside from Teleport. Then again, Ebonguards are in even worse shape, but hey, at least they can fly.

Hrm... you forgot Travel. Here's the AB stuff from Aquamancy.

It's basically just the opposite of Summon, being instant. However, I haven't used it in a long time, similar to not using Bubble or Liquidform (or rather, remembering that I can). It's just not all that viable. I think it's the closest skill to Flow, other than the restrictions already placed on it. I don't know if it allows entourages, but I'm suddenly tempted to play with it.
I can't really think of any other "mystical transportation" skills that haven't already been brought up in great detail.
Unknown2005-10-06 05:53:32
Travel is nice, although in most situations you'd be better off demesne summoning.

QUOTE(Daevos @ Oct 5 2005, 01:34 PM)
Ah, yes, Communes don't have access to Wisp which is the best summoning ability in the game simply because it doesn't require as much preparation time as demense summon. Forested rooms will last long after the druid has dissolve that demesne and left. And any Wiccan can utilize that forest to wisp. In the case of Demesne summon though, the mage has to actually be there with the target in their demesne, and they are the only person who can summon.
199482
I seriously can't believe how one sided that statement is. If you are going to say well you need a mage to demesne summon, you can't turn around and say well you don't need a druid to wisp. Because you do need a druid, since you need the druid to have made forest, the fact that forest remains isn't an argument worth anything, and only shows lack of forethought in raiding.
Bob says "hey let's go raid!"
Jim says "ok but they have forest there? What do we do about it?"
Bob says "Well we could ask Tom to come remove the forest for us so they can't wisp us, or flow to us."
Jim says "Tom isn't here right now, though."
Bob says "Well let's raid anyways, I mean we can always cry on the forums about how stupid we are for raiding a village that we knew they could easily defend, afterwards."
Serously, drop the wisp argument already. Trying to justify your own case, by telling us how to defend against summons, yet negating your own defense by not utilising it just makes you look sad.

Ignoring his argument, since it's perfectly viable and applied constantly on the field, makes you look a lot more sad.
Bau2005-10-06 06:28:28
I'd say it makes him look sillier, if you're gonna be talking like that, kids!

Gregori2005-10-06 06:28:28
Thorgal, reread the statement. Crying because you had your stupidity turned on you is not a valid argument.
If I walk into a bank and pull a gun on the bank teller and a cop shoots me, I don't get to say "But it's not fair the cop shot me! I mean I knew it could happen and I did it anyways, but the cop should'nt be able to shoot me for it."

Having Flow drop your items is by far the stupidest idea I've yet heard on these forums. If it did, I want to see Lich, Ghost, Transmigrate, and Vitae all drop your items as well.
Oh, and really, the Serenguard need to learn that we're not taxis. I was simply amazed to see Malicia simply tell Munsia to flow her around, without even bothering to ASK.

Thorgal2005-10-06 06:32:25
Of course dropping items is a stupid idea, I didn't even bother reading who suggested it, I was just responding to Gregori's idiot reasoning to attack Daevos.
Sylphas2005-10-06 06:34:20
Um, Thorgal, I wasn't responding to you. I wasn't responding to anything but that suggestion itself.
Kiarlea2005-10-06 06:37:24
Hey, don't lump Serenguard in one group. I walk or teleport nexus, or use the aether portals most of the time.
Gregori2005-10-06 06:38:40
Actually I wasn't attacking Daevos, I was quoting his statement, but directing it at all of you who try and argue that when you raid it is unfair how easily we can defend with wisp and flow. When with a little firing of the synapses you can easily prevent wisp and flow.
90% of raiding is not known about until the first call for help happens. What does this mean? You utilise your time quickly to remove any threat of wisp and/or flow. If you choose to raid with disregard for the fact that we can wisp and flow, that does not give you the whining rights to come and say how unfair it is that we defended against you.
EDIT::
What bothers me about what Daevos stated is that, Daevos is not a stupid person. So when he makes blanket statements like that it just pisses me off, because he usually presents a valid arguement, biased but valid. If he considers what I said an attack on him directly then I apologise for that, but it was an attack on the argument and the thought in the arguement.
