WISP SUCKS, thanks a lot for not disabling the skill while the changes are put in.

I wish we had an unblockable skill that loses groups/ents and goes through everything while the skill is being revamped. Way to go there on on that thinking.

I have to agree there. Why not make the changes all at once, instead of forcing everyone to suffer like this? First, flow takes an enormous hit. The opposing side is happy. The forestal side isn't. Druids are utterly screwed over in their demense and wisp is working and nothing stops it. Nothing. You're safer in non-demense land. It makes no sense. Now you have the Mag side whining about wisp even MORESO.

I have to go. Thank god. biggrin.gif

I'm sure the coming changes will fix things, it's just a really fine line between making wisp useless, and screwing over druids and to a lesser extent other commune characters.

I don't really see what was wrong with wisp working as it did, and just adding a small thing like making entanglement/true blindness/crippled legs stop it.

Alternatively, remove the monolith restriction, make it transfix someone then 3 seconds later if they're still transfixed they follow. Then Thorgal gets his delay.

Edit: Actually, I don't really care. Just make it so flow/wisp doesn't utterly destroy the benefit of a Druid demesne.

The changes are being made, and it wasn't intentional to leave the ability so open to 'powergaming' as it is now. You definitly have apologies on that, and maybe you can all come to some sort of resolution, maybe even (gasp, roleplay!) in game until it is finished. But, onto a more serious manner.

I wonder, are the gods still of the same opinion as they told us they were months ago, that Magnagora is to blame for all player discontent?

If that is something a divine said, they've been chastised for it by now (and it most certainly does not mean all divine thinks it is true.) Saying something like that is hardly fair to a player, and I'm sure the same divine feels badly about it now.

Now, to delve into the deeper problem of the forums a bit. There has been enough, more than enough of this continually reoccuring garbage of 'your city is full of griefers', 'stop telling us not to do it when you do it! Griefer! Hypocrites!', and 'I find it amusing they cry when their skills get nerfed but laugh when it happens to others', and best of all, 'you did it to us so we can do it to you'. Do you not get sick of it?

There is no reason for you all to be so scathing, condescending, and quick to insult and injure one another over the forums - none. It is frankly - sickening. You are all intelligent, and mostly mature adults. Act like it, it will make the forums a much happier place to be, and make forum topics much nicer to read for player, and Administration alike. I'm positive it would be hugely appreciated.

Just as I've said it in game, I fully believe in not letting your temper and emotions get the best of you out of it, as well. You should all sit, turn off the forums for an hour or so and just take the time to breathe, drink some coffee, Hajamin style, and calm down. Give yourselves a clean slate, before you end up giving yourselves heart attacks.
Cairam2005-10-28 00:19:39
How does Lord Hajamin take His coffee? I'll give it a try. Not that I've ever been that pissed at the forums... Or the game, for that matter.
Munsia2005-10-28 00:20:06
no I never get sick of it. I have a very high tollerance. Then again I rarely comment about this stuff so I get to sit back and laugh at my friends and foes at the same time biggrin.gif
Unknown2005-10-28 00:42:34
Can we maybe get the words of Viravain on a splash page for the forums? I think most of us need to read that from time to time.

That's actually a good idea, if it's going to be a bit longer.

And well said on the rest.
Munsia2005-10-28 02:14:06
Okie.. Ixion let me and Narsrim bash in the catacombs without giving us any trouble and we will stay out of using the wisp ninja.gif
Xavius2005-10-28 02:35:21

After a few solid hours of coding, I've decided that I'm going to stear way clear of Hajamin every time I see a big project coming to an end. I can see his player sitting behind the keyboard going "Oh, so Estarra thinks she can tell me that she wants five new archetypes coded in a week? Horrid wench! Grr...hmm, and is that one of Estarra's favorite characters defiling my shrine? I'll show her! Eat this, Estarra!"

*zap Ixion* *zap Ixion* *zap Ixion* *zap Ixion* *zap Ixion* *zap Ixion* *zap Ixion* *zap Ixion*

Then Ixion thinks it's just because of defiling, and he's all OMGWTFNERF! while Hajamin's laughing his arse off.

Yeah, avoid Hajamin when the caffeine wears off.

Psh, not bloody likely. I tried, seriously, I tried.

Screw it. Druids are utterly worthless in combat. Let's resign ourselves to that, shall we? I mean, god, thinking we should wait for wisp to be balanced is like thinking my opinion constitutes the eternal truth of the universe.

There will always be people that exploit anything they can to gain an advantage over others. Expecting people to not exploit these things is like expecting people to not cause grief or steal.

Wisp is a two-way street. Trust me, the invading force would have preferred to just stop wisp completely instead of use it, but when you can't even change the forest type or drop monoliths, the only option is to get the opposing wispers first.

Whatever you do, don't try suggesting that to your own commune. ranting.gif

Actually, the initial plan WAS to reforest it so that you all couldn't wisp or flow. Then we realized we were idiots. sad.gif

Exactly. If I was in the Magdoring team, I would have done the same. Use the weakness of forest to your advantage, there's nothing anyone can do to stop it, short of wisping you back.

Welcome to the Wisp Wars.

No, you misunderstand. We were idiots for trying to forest it because Ethereal Serenwilde *can't* be reforested, just like Eth Glom can't be forested by you all. That's why we had to use the weakness of the forest thing for the... wisp wars. We'd have preferred to do a temporary forest and just avoided the whole wisp thing period.
Unknown2005-11-02 01:47:45
I'm just really, really angry. Wisp shouldn't be like this, but we can't DO anything about it until someone up there fixes things.

What the hell is the point in fighting?

*start demesning*
*get wisped*
*enemy team hacks away at you*
*flow to escape*
*get wisped*
*enemy team hacks away some more*
*tumble away*
*get wisped*
*enemy team kills you*
*demesne goes down*

WTF?

Narsrim Combat Trick #308:

If someone wisps you, trigger it to flow to someone in the local area with you. You can flow out 10x faster than someone can wisp you. Even if someone is constantly wisping you, you should be able to get out before even being hit... and while it costs the opponent power, it costs you nothing to flow...

That is a neat trick, unfortunately that trick only works for those with flow (and perhaps a cubix). For the rest of the population (excluding mages who can force flood/taint when possible), it is still a deathtrap.
