Faeling problem:

Make size difference affect damage! If an Igasho is fighting a faeling the igasho will use his weight in his blows while the faeling will find it harder to deal big damage!

So size 20 will do more damage against size 7 then a size 15 then a size 20 for example

And a size 7 will do less damage against a size 20 then a size 15 and so on.

Mugwump mage problem:

All mage damage attacks like staff should have a cool down time from after they are cast. After this time they then do max damage again but if they cast straight away then they do less damage as their cool down time isnt done. The bigger the gap between each cast the more damage done. This way mugwumps have to combine heavey damage with afflictions, slings telekinises etc while people with longer balances can staff, staff, they'll be slower but do more damage each time while mugwumps who staff staff will be faster but do less damage each time.

i guess this would also stop people from getting titan and switching to the lowest size possible...i mean the size relating to damage does really make sense
Shiri2005-10-04 10:45:45
Only in that in you're taller odds are going to be that you have more strength.

Which is already reflected in the...strength stat.

As long as the effect is moderate, I think this wouldn't be a problem. The smaller races are also far more likely to dodge (if dodge was implemented). I don't like the mugwump thing though. It's too complex and unwieldy.

I have to ask, are you the same person? Celahir/Silimaur?

I don't particularly like either idea.

Some faelings already have it pretty rough in exchange for their speed and size. 9 con base, isn't it?

Also, mages don't need nerfing, mugwumps do. Nerf them, not the people who might be a mugwump.

jawdrop.gif I wouldn't have even guessed that. But looking at the posts, you're either right, or they're sharing the same computer. wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif

And the size thing makes some sense, but you have to look at it this way: we see dwarves as packing a powerful punch in combat, and something larger (maybe just taller, don't know about width) might not nessecarily be stronger. Did anyone see that celebrity boxing between Minute Bol and that football player? The dude was 7'2'' I believe, and he couldn't take out the 400lb short, fat guy (granted it was a draw, but still).

We typically see things that are larger as stronger, ie giants. But if the size stat doesn't nessecarily mean how buff you are, and takes into account mostly height, then size would not greatly affect the strength of your blows.

I have no idea what inspired this thread, but these ideas outright border on... well, bad taken to the extreme.

First, the consideration is physical attacks for size and nothing else. This favors only warriors and as such, adds yet another stat for them to take advantage of, which is just outright wrong. Furthermore, consider a human with rapiers or a katana, killing your opponent has more to do with precision and skill of the blow than "swinging at someone who is smaller than you." Furthermore, who is to say a dwarf doesn't "weigh more" than a Mugwump. The Mugwump may be taller... but that has nothing to do with weight when we are considering magical races.

Furthermore, the mage idea stems from someone who obviously doesn't have a clue about combat. How is an Aquamancer supposed to kill someone if they can't at one point just start zapping the crap out of someone? Zapping, letting cure while you afflict, zapping, etc... is going to get you nowhere against anyone decent.
