I'd have preferred a war to a crappy alliance of convenience, far more interesting.
I smell oppurtunity. This whole shebang seems like the chance to establish that Commune vs. City axis that some of us have been hoping for. Mayhaps a few Divine tinkerings could bring it about.

Screw alliances. I want to see all 4 entities battle it out in the next village. I'm tired of picking who is fighting for who, lets just all beat the living snot out of everyone. (now the next one will be peaced)

That would be awesome.

Seconded. Yay for Nature.
Asarnil2005-10-08 19:09:56
that will NEVER happen as long as SerenGlom are the only refillers besides Bob. Most people care too much about easy supply to refills to alienate every single refiller in the game in one go.

Hehehe. I was waiting for Richter to say that, actually.
But, it was well fought. Glomdoring tried.

You guys managed 13 pages while I was sleeping.
I'm not even going to read this thread.

Communes vs Cities is a lost case for the cities, no way in hell the cities would stand even a glimps of a chance.
Ashteru2005-10-08 19:44:34
Well, it would be cool if the cities could close their big doors, so that there would only be one entrance left at each city, the Harbour....that would be damn nice, some city raiding and all...

Celest could have easily won that village if Serenwilde had helped them. You dominated the area with your druids and wisp traps. It was Serenwilde's choice to take the village, your force and fortification was so great, that by the time I arrived it was clearly only a choice between Celest and Serenwilde regarding winning the village. I just stuck in there and tried to help Glomdoring out of pure stubbornness.

This thread is funny. But it definitely makes me feel better about that influencing session!
Glom had....hmm...four influencers (until Bau left), only two of who were above CR3 (I think) (until Bau left). Glomdoring didn't have a shot against anyone. Celest/Seren had three influencers to keep an eye out for, I personally had little opportunity to move, let alone influence, between the demesne and the bazillion Serenwilders all over the place. If you'd actually cared to help Celest, the village would have easily been theirs.
And thanks again Daevos for being a thorn in their side, and keeping Shayle from feeling utterly useless!

City vs Commune can never happen, while the communes have most of our enchantments as skills in their Totems, cities cannot survive without alchemic supplies.

How did this end up back in general. When I left it last night it was in Idiots and rightfully so.
I believe the topic was Congratution to Serenwilde. Returning to that topic. Congratulations.

I'd like to clarify a few points:
1. Celest has had 5 villages at one time (Galvadore was a King). This during the time Serenwilde and Celest had an "agreement." During two of the villages Celest held, Serenwilde was supposed to "get the village" but did not have the numbers to support influencing, and as a result, Celest went ahead and influenced. That is -exactly- what happened here.
2. Munsia was the first person in Southgard. And as soon as she forested, it was swarmed with Serens. I had Ethilwen influenced in crusade before a single Celestian was in the village. We started -far ahead- of everyone.
3. The last time Southgard was influenced, Celest has more than enough people to see it through with enough support, and they screwed it up because they don't influence well. Celest would camp out at denizens in sanctuary and then -influence them in sanctuary- when they were in a // friendly // demesne with no enemies around... that's just slitting your throat... and that's why they lost.

Quoted and Bolded for emphasis. There is no way in heck the cities could survive against the communes, because the communes are given advantages that cities have no counter to. There are many treads that list and discuss those advantages, so I will not repeat them here in this post.
I will make this statement: Combatants and bashers can make do without enchantments, but they can’t make do without salves, purgatives, and potions.
Jack2005-10-08 20:40:52
Or herbs.
(Yes, I know, people from cities can pick herbs too, but only one third of 'em are given the choice, as opposed to every forest-dwelling guild.)

I said it would be fun...not that it would ever happen. Though you have to agree, it WOULD be fun.
And shhh, Geb....I am trying to make enchantments look unmissable, you are working against my advertisements...

It would be fun if Cities could make potions/purgatives/salves and communes could make enchantments (for the purposes of balance), but that's not very likely to happen.

City vs Commune is never going to happen because Serenwilde despises Glomdoring and that won't change - end.

Cities would be fine if they had an Alembic. Or even if Deepnight had an Alembic.

Aye. The best we could hope for is a pretty much total FFA, where Serenwilde and Glomdoring kind of just ignore each other, and Celest and Magnagora, well, they're just fighting off everyone.
