And what about trading in artifacts for bidding? I doubt 200 credits will win anything, but how will that work with escrow? Does it just mean that we can't trade in artifacts then?
202376
You can contact me and I'll put 200 credits in escrow for you (if you have 400 credits in artifacts). That is your 'bidding power' (plus any credits in your account).
When the auction ends, you won't receive the artifact until you either purchase credits or make the trade.
In this manner, those with artifacts can use them for 'bidding power' without purchasing credits. If they win the auction, they can choose whether or not to actually trade the artifact or to purchase credits normally.
It's perfectly fine to figure out the bidding power of all your artifacts and have that amount stored in escrow to use for bidding. Just remember that if you do win and don't put any credits in your account, your artifacts will be 'collected' (so know what you're doing).
For example, if you place 2000 credits in escrow which represents all your artifacts, get over-zealous about bidding and place a bid for 2000 credits, then you will be required to pay up 2000 credits (assuming the bid goes up that high and you win). If you don't put any credits into your account in a timely manner, then 4000 credits in artifacts will be removed from your possession.
Hope this clears things up.

Possibly some of them MAY be suitable for permanent artifacts, though most of them will not be.

Aw..
..not even ones that are pre-filled, so that they can't get refilled with other potions?
Either way, it would be cool to see, after all these are done, a single auction per IG year. Would make things interesting, by giving oppurtunities to get these items without Bob selling them, without really flooding the market with them at the same time. It would also encourage lots of credit purchases

Wand of Ice... I hope to gods a Wiccan gets that. That's like the "toadcurse is actually an instakill now" artie.

If this is popular and goes well, we may continue to hold auctions on a sporadic basis. However, once per IG year is a bit much. Maybe once every 2-3 game years...
(I really dunno how we'll do it, if we do it.)

Letting people know that there are going to be auctions less then 6 months apart is a very bad idea, because people will just wait for later auctions when people have allready spent lots on the first ones etc...
Ashteru2005-10-09 22:47:02
It would be quite nice to see more players running around with unique artifacts....that makes it somehow more lively, and it could be RPed nice. Not like a magical world like Lusternia would only produce around 30 different artifacts EVERYONE can have.
I am talking about RP there.
Maybe once every two RL months or something, to make it rare and not too rare at the same time.

Is it possible that some auctions can last a shorter period of time... like 12 game days or.. 5 game days?

You assume the same items would go up every auction. People who wait for a particular item may find themselves waiting quite awhile.

It hasn't been written in stone yet.
It'll be in the description of the auction when it goes up.

Yes but since we earlier promised people would have 10 RL days to come up with credits, these are going to last at least that long.

Yes, 10 real life days is an extremely long time period for an auction. It is too long to really even get involved with until the last few days or so.

i've a question, how does one bid? and if one does bid, do they automatically lose the credits, even if they lose? cause i don't want to bid if i would lose the credits even if i lose the auction.
Unknown2005-10-13 21:31:44
You bid, the credits are gone, someone outbids your max bid, then your credits are back.
