On sale on libraries from the 17th of October. At home thanks to Amazon, today.

Belonging to very good serie of books (starting with Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin), this book will keep me away from Internet and life in general for the next 4 or 5 days.

Pleasure to have meet you all wink.gif

Anybody else is reading said books? What do you think of them?
Sylphas2005-10-13 15:12:03
My library has the last copy of A Storm of Swords in lost status, so I'm stuck there until they order a new one. sad.gif

Oh shit I didn't know this was coming out so soon. Best fantasy series ever.

OMG I am agreeing with Visaeris on something?

And about Storm of Swords, it isn't on libraries here yet! Had to buy them all. One in spanish and the other in english.
Raezon2005-10-13 16:03:27
Yeah, I have the first three. I'm assuming in book stores in hard cover? I always wait for paperback unless it shows up on the recommended extra discount list at Barnes and Noble.

This book may sink the series. According to Martin's website FfC is only going to be half a book. His manuscript was running so long he split it in two in a very odd manner. Instead of making a part 1 and part 2 FfC will only deal with half the characters. Another book will be released (date undetermined?) that tells the stories of the other half of the characters in the same time line. I'm buying the book anyway but I won't read it until the next volume is released. I've waited this long I can wait another 4-5 years.

Wish I had such a strong will. I'll be reading it today from 7:30pm until an indefined time in the deep night/early morning.
Manjanaia2005-10-13 16:35:03
What are the names of all the books in the series? I've never read them and need to read something.
Iridiel2005-10-13 17:05:31
# A Game of Thrones, Bantam Books, 1996
# A Clash of Kings, Bantam Books, 1999
# A Storm of Swords, Bantam Books, 2000
# A Feast for Crows, Bantam Books 2005

Thank you.

Oh while I'm at it, can I get a brief synopsis (is that the word I'm looking for...) on the series? What I could expect from the books if I read them?
Unknown2005-10-13 18:06:10
I'm refusing to order it until the other one comes out. Even though I've always read all the Jon ones first, then the Aryas, then.. I refuse to be MADE to do it.

Yes that's the word you're looking for, no you can't get a synopsis.. There's no way to do it. There's no one prevailing theme..

It's about a cluster of characters(chief of which is a family, as well as that family's enemies) and it follows the lives of the various characters. Every character is its own story and, while many of the stories mesh much of the time, each has a distinct style, and they all deal with different themes.

What's his name did the same thing with Green Angel Tower. It was so long and he split it into two books. So not too crazy of an idea.

Tad Williams. Both parts of Green Angel Tower were released at the same time. From what it sayd on Martin's website we could be waiting a while for the other half of FfC and we only get half the characters per book.
Melanchthon2005-10-13 22:40:18
Arya had better be in the first one, damn it.
Sylphas2005-10-14 00:47:46
wub.gif Arya.

If he knows enough to be able to split it along character lines like that, he should have most of the next book done, right? Why the long wait?
Iridiel2005-10-14 08:49:46
Better this than having all the characters in a book, and getting just half the story. At least you know what's going on in Westeros while you wait to see what's with teh dragons smile.gif
And Arya is quite scary smile.gif
Unknown2005-10-14 09:02:12
FfC and the other one are split in Westeros/other places. So, we either get Arya or Jon. And I think FfC is Westeros, so that's Jon, Sansa, etc.
Unknown2005-10-14 11:19:55
Damn, it takes another month for them to come out here in our local ABC, me wanst is presssioussss

and Arya = Uber
