Well since they are under the boxes category in Artisan, though it would probably make more sense if it was under Chests, and you had to roll them like Alger had.
Vesar2005-10-17 11:19:42
Wow... I like the rolling idea! That would add alot to this system. Just have to make sure someone can't steal a keg while the owner is rolling it to his/her shop.

Isn't it a little silly to walk around with 15+ Kegs in your inventory? To hold such a huge amount of potions, these kegs must be enormous.

Isn't it a little silly to carry in your hands over 200 vials, a slew other junk, while decked out in all the cheap jewelry you can find?

Both kegs and cubes are detrimental to jewelry.
Kegs - a lot less vials will be needed since you can just carry around kegs and refill whenever you want.
Cubes - a lot less "bigger" jewelry like crowns and wands will be needed because you can do with rings just as well considering you can recharge whenever you want.

That is why they should be only usable in shops.
Unknown2005-10-17 11:52:46
Because there's so many drunks out there, you should be able to CHUG *keg* which wastes all the contents and also counts as what ever sips it had left, if it was full of alcohol, but they cant... yet!

People only buy vials when theirs decay or when they need to buy them from a shop because there's no alchemist around. People will still need new vials. And people will still carry a lot of vials because you don't want to have to go to the city in search of your job in mid bashing just because you only had one health vial.
That, provided kegs only work on shops, wich is the most logical option.

Same as with kegs, you'll carry a lot of jewelry because you don't want to be bothered going for more charges each time your ring runs out of cleanse in the middle of a fight. Same as you used crowns not to go to the pentagram each time your ring ran out of charges. Will just remove the need of the search for the friendly enchanter.
Thing is, people usually have their providers, and the big people never run out of enchants/potions because they already know who to ask for them (and provide for free in some cases). Problem is for the not so big people who go mad looking for an enchanter/alchemist, who now will have the option of paying a bit more and go to a shop with it's there 24/7 for their needs.
DISCLAIMER: All of this, provided KEGS and CUBES only work in shops. Otherwise is just silly.

My solution.
Chewing Gum.
Y'know how the damn stuff sticks to everything?
Yea, well, learn the muscle control, to swing potions past your mouth, while swinging two monster swords, and focusing your mind on curing your maladies.
Just have to be chewing too, y'know.
Imagine Daevos chewing some nice pink gum, massive bubble bursting over his face as he slices someone in half.
I think.... that's enough sugar for me.

Narsrim, no one should be able to have 999 free enchantments sitting in their inventory, for the sole reason that it will ruin enchanting.

206730
This will increase business for them. Alchemists and enchanters will be able to sell refills when they are off-line by putting these items in their shops or selling ultra-bulk refills to shop owners who are not alchemists nor enchanters. Believing that adding a new and improved product distribution system will decrease sales is like saying the introduction of next-day airplane delivery across the continental US hurt sales of items previously delivered by donkey,

A keg will be very expensive to refill. Unlimited vials will saves lots of cost there. Players were already carrying massive amounts of vials with their health elixir, so the keg does not really change the dynamics of how much elixir you have available.
Ialie2005-10-17 14:42:11
Ah so it is meant for kegs and cubes to work outside of shops?

Roark2005-10-17 14:43:11
If they only work in shops then that will make it harder for non-shop owners to compete. Alchemists woudl only be able to sell through shop owners. Whereas if you can carry a keg then the alchemist can refill your keg for the same price as when he refilled your 100 vials. Putting it in shops only means that alchemists must own a shop or sell to someone who owns a shop. This will make it easier for you to sell to those that own a shop since no one wants to pay for a vial when all they want is a refill. Therefore you do not have to be on-line to sell your refills, which means more sales volume.

Yes, it's really good for enchanters and alchemists.
Unfortunately, it hits jewelry (what, I can't get over it )

If I can't sell you stuff because you are off-line and you go without enchanments for a period of time then I am losing money. If I sell you 50 enchantment charges for 100 gold every day for a week (total 350 charges and 700 gold) and then later I sell you 500 enchantments for 900 gold and it lasts you a whole week, I am making less revenue per charge, but the increased sales volume means overall more revenue. Lower prices means more revenue if they are your sales volume increases enough.

Charge heaps for the cubes.
And people will still need one piece of jewelery for each enchantment.
I have like 4 brooches, 2 necklaces, 5 wands, 2 bracelets, and a circlet. And I'm not doubling up on any enchantment.
With cubes, I'll still need those items. It just means finding an enchanter won't be such a pain.

Sounds really cool, makes me wish I had 1 arti vial for each and a keg though, that'd be sweet.
Iridiel2005-10-17 15:00:12
Just make it so kegs and cubes decay unless on a stockroom and have a chance to break/explode if they're carried around. Movement is bad for big kegs of anything, or for cubes holding high amounts of energy
