Kegs and Cubes

If we can carry 50 dead astral creatures, 100 vials, armour, 100000 gold sovereigns, and still fight, including being able to deftly drink from specific vials whilst wielding two weapons and attacking at the same time...

I think we can manage a few kegs. biggrin.gif

This isn't a good argument. First, you assume that crowns cost more than bracelets, broochs, etc. That may have been the case initially, however, there are now such things as wooden rings (I've paid 300 gold each), wooden bracelets (400 gold each), and wooden crowns (2000 gold each).

I've seen bracelets that cost over 2000 gold... so it was feasible before to have *all* crowns and still pay less in the end that if you got rings or bracelets from someone else.

It is all about who you know... and that's not going to change.

Wooden crowns? First time I hear about it. I don't have access to this design. None of crowns I have access to is more expensive to make than any bracelet or brooch.

But yes, designs vary. Thing is, every reasonable designer balances the cost to some degree. Of course, comms prices change, but still, the amount remains similar for all of them. There just are some unreasonable ideas like wooden bracelets (when wood was really cheap) that someone 'inventive' submits. mellow.gif

To the last part though, I really notice that's true.
We all like to speak about economy and all, but in such little playerbase, you can usually get all stuff you need for free or almost free if you're active enough and know people.
1. I suppose every merchant has a few friends for whom he'll drop the price or work for comms (which effectively narrows the market a lot).
2. Some just feel the need to be a good uncle/aunt and give stuff for free to everyone who smiles at them.
3. Richter's clan, which gathers like 40 trans merchants who are supposed to make stuff for free for everyone else.

Guess I derail a bit... unsure.gif

Anyway, about weigth limitations - it's just silly to bring logic and realism here. I can carry few hundred steel goat corpses easily, on top of that I can have 5 full plate armours, 50 hammers... nothing stops me from that.

Any realistic limitation is not feasible in Lusternia.

Ialie has a wooden crown design smile.gif
Roark2005-10-17 21:32:56
If we imposed a weight limit then you'd not be able to carry around many of the corpses you bash, and the really large monsters could never have their corpses picked up at all.

Everyone has a wooden crown design as it is a public design that I made AGES ago
Commodities: wood 90

Appearance:
an acorn-shaped crown
Dropped:
What appears to be a large acorn lies here in danger of being attacked by
squirrels.
Examined:
This funny wooden crown has been fashioned into the shape of a large
acorn. The base of the acorn being hollowed out to fit snuggly above the
wearer's brow, while the body of the acorn spirals up in layers to a
pointed end. Circling around the crown, simple images of carefree
squirrels have been burned into the surface. The crude playful images
are obviously meant to inspire laughter in anyone who would be silly
enough to don this crown.
Narsrim2005-10-17 21:55:58
<3 acorn crown.

If only Ialie wasn't such a shopkeeper who is aware of how to milk her customers... the first two I purchased were like 3k each and now they cost 9k each sad.gif
Ialie2005-10-17 21:56:44
Cause wood is... um.. crazy

a wooden crown now cost 18000 to make.

*sniffle* I'm going to have to go lumberjacking in Glomdoring again if only to spread the cheap acorn crown love.
Ialie2005-10-17 22:06:09
Gather the wood and I'll make you those crowns for free (and a donation ) tongue.gif

This is hardly a problem. You could let people offer corpses on the spot of the kill. You could let people carve up the beast into riftable portions. You could let people offer with just the head or heart. You could have a cart with a bell ringer yelling " bring out yer dead." Heck you could even proclaim that in Lusternian physics dead mobs weigh less.

Not that I am big fan of encumberance. I am just saying it could be done.

Ah, this one. doh.gif Never made it as it looked silly to me.
Sylphas2005-10-17 22:56:32
Yeah, it seemed silly. Of course, I'm one who really should be worried about price over looks, but I can't seem to shake off the fact that I'd be wearing an acorn on my head.

Just get together with your cartels and charge more for making the cubes or raise your price on powerstones. They use to be sold at $1k and people still bought em like wildfire, it wouldn't be hard to go back to that.
207256

Easier said than done...I tried...it flopped.. sad.gif It's really difficult when people simply dont care to reply to your proposals even though it benefits their cartel...oh well
Unknown2005-10-17 23:04:57
Nah, it just won't work.
It's been tried, and not only once.
Sylphas2005-10-17 23:07:19
All it takes is one or two undercutting, and then price agreements go poof.
Saran2005-10-18 04:21:36
hehe i'd watch out when complaining about weights, or we might end up with discworlds answer to the problem, you simply drop anything you are holding if your weight gets to high(which includes every thing you have)

oh and perhaps its time for a meeting of the alchemists to organise the slaying of anyone who tries to move from a trade argreement (one of the few good things about pre-autoclass achaea)

EDIT: Wait have to be in-character. the toading of any alchemist who disagrees hehehe
