I think it depends on how it's done. Like another noted above, Lusternia's days are only an hour long, and a holiday would come every two weeks or so if we did it that way. We could have carnivals or festivals that last an in-game week though that come every 10-20 game years or something. We do celebrate the 1-year game anniversary.

However, I also don't see anything wrong with celebrating an OOC holiday in some IC manner, because first and foremost it is a game and people tend to think about Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I think as long as you don't get into the Achaean traditions of banners or go trick-or-treating in Glomdoring, you can have it be more subtle. For instance, the following ideas could fit Lusternia IC while respecting OOC times:

* Ghosts start spawning for some reason--or maybe more specters gather on Spectre Isle, etc. Players must try to figure out what's going on.

* Rats suddenly start swarming and create a plague, maybe zombie-rats that turn people into zombies.

* Vampires (or some other undead creature), Werewolves, or Goblins are introduced.

* One of the other Souless gods starts manifesting--maybe Zenos starts possessing people in an attempt to escape his prison.

* People who die in the basin during this time end up somewhere else other than fate, and must try to figure out what to do next.

* Some tribute to some horror flick is done in-game.

Holidays don't come every year, you know. Some culturals held festivals every new moon, some every full moon - some every time the sun was conjunct to such and such, and the moon was full.

And last year, they did some strange things with ghosts and stuff. Isune and Lacostian did it in Celest. They rezzed us, because even then, we got our arses kicked.

Halloween... we don't celebrate that here, though every few years some sneaky kids will wander around asking for lollies.

Orgs could plan their own holidays you know, why do the Gods have to throw you a bone? You could come if with ones of your own and then ask the Admins for a little Divine magic and see if they help out. Dunno if they'll want to but meh it's a thought aint it.

hehe i was driving to work and had an idea for a costume for next year perhaps.

okie, my hair is like below shoulderlength when straight (damn these curls to nil!!!) wearing one of those costume shop witches hats (with the hair on so i could brush it in with mine which would probably be black) wearing a (flowing ofcourse) black cloakey thing over basic black normal clothes, then for my favourite part... a normal broom with "L" plates on it.
