Psh, just lie that you're older.

Yes, how are they planning to catch people if it's so easy to lie about your age? Just curious, I'm not 12!! I have an ID I swear

So... age limit, eh? I guess we can say goodbye to poor Amaru, then He always did strike me as childish.

What he by chance shrubbed for abusing game mechanics? Oh wait... no. I call such things childish
Revan2005-10-18 05:13:47
Psh, childish and stupid are two very seperate things
Unknown2005-10-18 05:19:32
As long as they make every reasonable effort they can, the law protects them (the company) if someone lies about their age, as far as I am aware.

Why deletion? Why not suspension until they are old enough? Some people have worked hard on their characters and it would be very upsetting to have it deleted just because of a sudden age limit rule. If you froze their characters and unfroze them when they are 13, it might make people a little less disgruntled. If I was under 13, I would rather wait for my character to be unfrozen then make a new character when I turn age 13 (or make a new one immediately and lie about my age). As mentioned by some others, they started at 12 years old, which means barely months before they turn 13.
Simply put, aye for suspension, nay for deletion. Whatever it is, at least give them some time to say goodbye. If you're going to go ahead with freezing, maybe their items could be frozen as well, so nothing decays or they could get a "Welcome Back!" kit to help them get restarted.

I am afraid this policy means the end of me. It has been fun everyone, but it will be another three years before I will be allowed to log on again. Estarra has told me it wasn't anything personal, but the policy was implemented for no other reason then to get rid of me. No hard feelings.

Or they could... you know do the right thing and leave on their own. Then come back on their own when they are old enough.

Yes, but the rule was not enforced before, or else those players would not have been able to join at below 13 years old. It's hardly fair to just whip this out without warning to those players.

Kind of crappy that this kind of rule has to be implemented. I'm safe, but I started playing MUD's when I was 10. I started with Gemstone III when AOL had some kind of free trial/beta thingy going on.
Thorgal2005-10-18 09:05:17
Good thing I'm getting 23 then, though I doubt this policy will effectively change anything, but perhaps that's only good.
Unknown2005-10-18 09:46:53
I prefer age limits for role play MUDs. The best ones I have played institute them. I support the policy.
silimaur2005-10-18 10:04:53
i feel sorry for the people that have already managed to establish good characters, though the age limit does make sense i just wish there was a way to keep the people we already have
Munsia2005-10-18 10:15:23
Anyone who isnt a teenager shouldnt be allowwed to play this even by thier parents.. the language and the stuff that goes on is too strong for preteens
Acrune2005-10-18 14:16:02
Hmm, just occured to me that I don't remember what age I put when I registered. Hope I'm more then 13
Iridiel2005-10-18 14:34:07
You're supposed to put your birth date. And be true about it
Acrune2005-10-18 14:48:51
Oooh, I misread that. I saw 'pick a date, any date'
