Just expand Astral make it 3 - 5 levels. For example say you are on Cancer. At the node, have an magical exit downwards, that leads to a second node that is also on cancer. As you go further down the creatures could get even more insanely hard. Or not. It could just be an extention to that area.

I'm all for Astral being nasty. Right now, Astral is super pansy land or "catch that wild node" zone. It is so... lame.

Love this idea. The creatures on the bottom level should spawn very often and be ridiculously hard- no nodes, just faster repops.

I'm voting yes for this one. It seems clear that we lack hunting grounds for the more powerful (or to me, hunting grounds in general), and this would help alleviate that problem.

I'd prefer giving the Astral beasties that are there now a general boost to make them more dangerous/profitable, and then introducing other bashable areas that are distinct from Astral. Especially on the lower planes, so that the communes have options as well.
I think Astral is set up nicely as it is. Let's see what interesting new regions the builders can come up with.

Wouldn't this go against the thoughts of the builders in that, "we do not build areas simply to bash". Personally, I would be disappointed as you have taken the mystique of Astral out, and made it simply a bashing land. It is that already, but it has history as well, and I can see a massive amount of events happening there in the future. If you expand it by levels, you have now made a glorified hunting grounds with little to no value...

Maybe instead of Astral, have like a hall of trials, which has like mobs from easy to super insanely hard dragons who rip your head off in one hit, as you get further into it, and there could be like some honors line if you actually finish it

Yeah but this can have dragons! It was only a suggestion, since so many people want new astral areas, you could just have like surges of super tough astral mobs coming down through the Megalith and PoS to Celestia and Nil, and eventually to Earth, Ethereal, and have to like kill them back and discover new areas. Fun fun, eh?

The main problem behind Astral being drained, was you could make alot of gold off the creatures. Reduce the gold behind each creature to about 50-60 gold and also use the idea Ialie had, I love your Idea!!

Which was truly the work of morons.
Anyone with access to Astral had the potential to generate as much gold as any other person with the investment of time. With Astral gone, that's still how it is. Expect the areas where one must invest said time have changed (and are far more suspectible to manipulation). I can make 15-20k gold easy bashing out the Catacombs (in one trip) in about an hour.
