just wondering if anyone has ever used salt instead of circle/pentagram?
i was thinking about it while i was "working" while sulfur can offer some benefit to those who haven't yet learned any nullify or it's high magic equivalent, a novice fresh out of the portal has no need for salt.
anyone else have skills that are similar

Sparkles is more pointless. And fireworks

RP anyone?
And sparkles has a combat use, I've seen it used more than once in real combat.
Salt can also be used on other people, which circle cannot.

Spamming people is considered a combat use? Heck, could I just emote a lot when I fight with the hope of just spamming people?

It is until you get issued over it. Sparkles are pretty worthless combat wise, unless the person you are fighting is prone to real life epileptic fits.
Malicia2005-10-20 15:18:24
I had always wondered that, Terenas.
First person to use that on me was Vesar. Talk about disorienting.

It's nothing but excessive spam on my screen. Like when Geb gave me stars, a weed pipe, and mind command me to smoke it. I was seeing giant smiley faces, 3 of those stars, plus his freaking demesne hitting me periodically, oh, and the lovely debates. It's just way too much spam, if you didn't have epilepsy before fighting Geb, you would afterward.
Malicia2005-10-20 15:30:11
That's hilarious. A weed pipe too? Evil.

Being able to salt another person is actually quite useful if you think about it.
Imagine fighting say a big nasty like... the Ebonglom Wyrm! I can attack it and then Munsia can sprinkle some salt on me so the Wyrm has to break my shield before he can hit me. That silly Wyrm is going to be damn lucky if he even touches me *muahahaha* /side plot.

Actually, spamming has a great combat value.. especially in Lusternia. Salt can be useful for assistance, if you don't want to gain suspect, but still want to help your friend, if defend isn't an option.. not that I've ever been in such a situation, but eh..
Munsia2005-10-20 18:57:58
Salt works now? I'm still unable to sprinkle it at people
Gregori2005-10-20 19:24:55
Salt is supposed to be able to used on others, but is not working.
Needless to say I love salt. It has the same eq loss as invoke circle without the mana drain. Sure the mana drain on circle is negligble, but why lose 30 mana when you don't have to at all. Salt is one of the easiest things to come by. I have more salt that I can shake a fist at.

I use magical salt all the time, especially when I'm surging mana into health. I don't want to use more mana than I have to, and sprinkling salt/sulfur uses no mana at all.
Acrune2005-10-20 21:11:38
Sparkles is a 'look what I can do' skill. Then people say 'ooh, neat, now stop it, its annoying' Spam really isn't effective when it takes eq to do it each time. And in group combat, you piss off your allies too
Saran2005-10-21 03:46:59
hehe discworld was full of those skills
they have flower conjuring, floating (no bonuses), a spell to make you change colors, a spell to make your target dry/wet, and two variations of skills that make custom illusions that can be passed around (they were fun for scaring newbies when they got annoying)
hehehe

Find someone who cures manually, spam the crap out of him, watch his curing take a dive. -nod me-

Misplaced post, sorry.
Unknown2005-10-21 11:33:34
chasm/SPAM! ... for example (And yes you'd need to spam first or have someone else do it)
