Tailoring or Enchantment?

Everyone can make all the public designs, though private designs are limited by which cartels you are a part of. You can usually submit designs through your cartels, depending on your Trademaster, and the TYPES of designs are limited by what base patterns there are. ie, pack, scarf, mask, dress, boots, etc.

I have a few basic questions about tailoring.

So, tailors can only make exact duplicates of designs available in our cartel or public lists, but we can make no custom designs without submission and approval through our trademaster? And we can't make any sort of changes to designs currently available?

For instance, if I found a design for a pair of black suede shoes with silver buckles, but I wanted a pair of black glossy leather shoes with silver buckles, I couldn't just adjust the design, I'd have to submit an entirely new design to the trademaster?

And trademasters can only submit 1-2 designs per year for their entire cartel? And if it's approved, then anyone in the cartel can use the design?

Clarification appreciated.

Enchantment is a public service skillset. Between powerstones and the forging-esque time required to enchant, you make practically no income.

Lies. Enchantments cost five gold per charge tops. If you charge 15 per, you make more gold enchanting a ring than I do filling a health potion.

Yes, you would have to submit a new design for a change like that.

Cartels have around 10-15 public slots, and 1-2 private slots open for design submission an INGAME year, that is 2 weeks IRL. From what I understand, most cartels don't even use all of their design slots an in-game year, so it's not that big of a deal.

Yes, anyone in the cartel would be able to use a cartel-only design, public designs are usable by everyone with the skill.

If you want private designs for your personal use only, you would need to buy a Private Cartel, which is 1mil gold (500k for the clan, 500k to make the clan a private cartel).

Hope this helped you.

Erm, cartels have 2 private, 1 public design per year right now.

-gape-

Stagleaf had 2 public, 2 private a year.

Well, I can, off the top of my head, think of at least six cartels that only have two private, one public design presently.

Look again, I suppose.

Alchemy profits are almost nothing; I agree with that. The thing with enchantment is that you could make more gold doing something else with the time it takes to enchant. Time is a commodity just like powerstones or horehound.
