For about a week or two, i won't be on much due to an unfortunate accident in shop class yesterday. While cutting a board on the table saw, i accidentally put my hand in the cutting path, and almost lost my thumb. I had to go to the Emergency Room and have it fixed up. I have several stitches and am bandaged up and I am in a lot of pain right now. I'll have the stitches out in a week, but the wound won't be fully healed for some time. It makes it very very difficult to type. So, moral of the story, respect the table saw.

Ew...
Stangmar2005-10-29 04:03:29
That's precisely what the other students in my class said when the teacher asked them to clean up the blood....
EDIT: There was blood all over, and a trail leading from the saw to the classroom, where the teacher put a gauze bandage on me and had an aide take me to the ER.

I work in a deli, with slicers, and my worst injuries to date have been: while cleaning a slicer, letting my arm touch the hot plate on the wrapping machine - blistered and scarred within the week - and slicing myself with a bread knife (6 serrations on my thumb). Sanitizing is a pain in the arse afterward (chain supermarket, extremely strict on sanitation ).
Stangmar2005-10-30 02:51:43
Good news: I finally gained enough composture to look at my thumb. It looks pretty normal, other than the stitches. I was expect a gash or a chunk missing. It will probably come out 1/16 of an inch shorter than my other thumb, but nothing TOO noticeable.

I repeat:
