Well in most of the FF series, Ixion was ghey. In FFX though he was probably the single best "Aeon" in the game unless you count the sisters or Yojimbo dropping his instakill move on someone.

The problem with summons in most every FF game, though, is that you only really need them if you're lazy and want to beat down something easily. So most of the time I just use whatever is coolest, in this case, Bahamut, Valifor, or Anima.

I have that problem. They start getting especially useless towards the end when Fire3 or whatever starts doing that kind of damage anyway. FF10 is the exception, but there against the really dangerous stuff you fight at the monster arena in calmlands (Jecht is a pansy) they are cripples and die easily, they basically have no staying power at all due to no viable healing, and can only really get one 99k limit off if they happen to have the appropriate character's ultimate weapon.
And wtf, Anima cool? It's like a giant mummified bondage fish, dude. Ixion ftw. Bahamut too, Valifor is too crippled for me to want to use him.
Vix2005-11-04 01:06:26
Yojimbo sucks the most in my opinion. I just don't want to pay him... Magus Sisters are okay I guess. Just too random for my liking. But yeah, not many reeeeeaaaaallllyyy cool aeons.
Shiri2005-11-04 01:10:59
Magus Sisters I always use just because they've overpowered, really. Probably the easiest way to get experience at the calm lands arena stage is to have everyone take one hit on Catastrophe (the giant rock thing that looks like the tentacle plant you fight at Kilik Temple) and then summon Magus Sisters, who then pwn him especially easily for their affliction immunity. That gets you like 4 levels EVERY TIME YOU DO IT so it's a really good source of levelling.
Yojimbo I just used a couple times to get Zantetsuken on Dark Valifor and Dark Ixion because those two darkaeons in particular pissed me off (I wanted to do it to penance so bad but figured I should really do it myself), but I guess you wouldn't know about that, I think it's European/Aussie release only.

*sigh* No no no ...
Go to calmlands and set everyone to AP-Overdrive and the Triple AP, fight the Giant Cautaur, everytime it kills you with whatever the number of needles it is in this one, you get roughly 3x that ,many experience points, just rez over and over until it flees...and boom, all your characters are now uniformily the same, and the game has become virtually pointless, except for killing Nightmare, or fighting the Dark Aeons in Int'l Version.

*double sigh* you are both wrong.
AP=Overdrive, Triple AP, Triple Overdrive weapons and Ribbon, Auto-Haste, Auto-Phoenix armours, with overdrive modes set to either Stoic or Comrade depending on what you are doing with your characters.
Proceed to repeatedly fight either Don Tonberry, King Cactaur or for the lazy, use the running into walls to spawn random battles with Yuna set to pray, and the other two to constantly attack. MUCH MUCH easier to get 99 sphere levels in one fight, and more profitable too.

Actually i quite like Ifrit and Shiva, mainly cause they are easy to get overdrives for but also because you get Ifrit a little before the Mi'hen highroad and he makes the walk alot easier by taking out bombs
Joli2005-11-04 04:25:04
Shiva was always my favorite..
Vix2005-11-04 04:28:04
I didn't quite understand it when she tossed the shawl though...
Saran2005-11-04 04:52:50
she was feeling a little warm? (might not be good when your all icey)
Narsrim2005-11-04 04:58:40
I like Shiva too.

Well, I guess it's hard to move your arms in the proper arcs and stuff if you're wearing a prohibitive shawl...or something?

Oxymoron
Shiri2005-11-04 05:13:17
...okay I haven't looked at it in a while, I don't know. And a shawl could be prohibitive...kind of...maybe... Quick, over there! *quickescape smiley*

Summons (espers) in FF3 are worthless in battle, unless you're using Ragnorak to find rare items.
