You know, honestly, i think of Lucidians as a big crystal golem. They dont breed, they're made.
Archthron2005-11-06 05:58:11
The distinction between lucidians and other creatures lies in their crystalline shell. In my opinion, the simplest way to explain this would be to allow lucidians to have cell walls, of a sort, which perhaps might contain silicon chains to give them a more metallic feel and harder structure. If this were the case, however, it would put lucidians in a seperate kingdom of their own, which would mean that they necessarily wouldn't be able to interbreed with animals. Unless of course they used magic, which is perfectly all right with me.

Uhhh, just for clarification, there's no information what so ever that there is even carbon in Lusternia, nor Silcon, nor any chemical we know of, it's a fantasy game not Rl, there's glass and stuff yes, but not nessecarily the glass we think of.

Yeah our periodic table doesn't exist here...Hope a Divine could clear this up...
Anyhoo the mechanics of interbreeding between a Lucidian and another race is kinda mind-boggling don't you think

I was just wondering, the Lucidians, unlike other races, are inorganic, so how would breeding or interbreeding for that matter work for them? I thought it would be cool if my Viscanti character had Lucidian features.

Well a Mommy Lucidian and Daddy Lucidian get married. Then Queen Maeve sends her faeries to leave a baby orclach under a cabbage leaf for them.
When the orchlach grows old enough to become a player character in his own right, he steps through the portal of fate, where he has all his memories erased.
Wandering around in a daze, the young amnesiac stumbles across a large-breasted faeling, and finds himself instantly smitten and realizes that his one true form is, indeed, faeling, and he reincarnates as such.
After a whirlwind courtship and a lavish wedding, they enjoy a brief but torrid honeymoon of kinky faeling sex. Then his new wife slips out to get a bottle of milk from the comm store, and is never heard from again.
Seven years later, our heartbroken ex-orclach weds an igasho woman in a marriage of convenience, just so they can build up their bloodline. Then Queen Maeve sends her faeries to leave a baby trill under a cabbage leaf for them.
Jump ahead twenty three years to when the grown trill weds a lobogarishu, at which point Queen Maeve blesses their plot of cabbages with a bouncing baby Lucidian, and they all live happily ever after.
And that, my friend, is where baby Lucidians come from.

There is no information on oxygen or gravity either.
EDIT:
Or evolution... but humans evolve

Clearly there is information on evolution since humans evolve.
Clearly gravity in Lusternia acts different than gravity that we know of. And in the real world there isn't even any real knowledge about gravity either. Bad examples to pick.
If you have ever taken an art class you would know that organic just means it has curved lines! Doesn't matter what its made out of

Have you ever heard of the magic words entitled, "context"? The concept is simple, we evaluate the discussion based upon everything that has been said and the situation it has created. In this case, we were talking about silicon based life. As such, if we are talking about life forms and silicon molecular structures, we are *gasp* not talking about art. We are talking about the biology and chemistry and biochemistry of the organism. Thus, organic = carbon based.
Furthermore, gravity does work very much the same way (regardless of what we can learn about the "truth" to gravity if we examine it on various levels such as from a quantum physics viewpoint). Drop something in the air like a monolith sigil. It will fall to the ground. While there are people who can use mechanisms to defy gravity such as magic, gravity works very much the same way as we understand gravity in the real world. The magic is the part that doesn't work the same (at least not for me).
And as for evolution, my post said that there is no information provided on evolution. While yes, there is a small tid bit in a helpfile that describes the EFFECTS of evolution upon humans, it doesn't say a damn thing about evolution itself or the mechanisms that contribute.

Hmm, I could be confused. I recall hearing about said grass but I don't recall ever looking it up. Perhaps it merely does uptake silicon at higher levels. In any event, I think the point of this thread is whether or not lucidians can interbreed, not whether or not they're organic. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but humans can breed with any of the races. As for the whole organic thing, let me again point you to organs including heart (heartburst, hearstop), lungs, brain, blood, muscles, and facial expressions. Let me also remind you that all races come from the same source, an Elder God (except maybe humans, but humans can become Demigods too, so they're similar in a way).

We can walk, we can talk, we can die... I think Lucidians are as alive as anything else. We just happen to have a poker face.

Chunks of them fall off and grow into little Lucidians

So does this mean that if I take a giant hammer and smash a few lucidians over the head, I'm not murdering Lucidians, I'm breeding them?
