And sure, its within the players' power to have astral back to normal, but it takes one person to screw it up, and we have thousands of players.

And yet you see no problems with one person wiping out all the NPCs associated with a city.

I see no problem with taking advantage of poorly placed and poorly ordered guards. There is a reason that the 10 guards at the Ebonglom killed me and a reason that the others around Rowena did not.
And Thorgal is just as good of a fighter as I am, and he was on the case. He worldburned 4 times on top of fighting me so... it was hardly as if no one was there either.
Unknown2005-11-09 20:02:27
I don't care about Astral either way, but then I'm the one who probably bashes out a lot of areas for smaller people, so I really can't talk.
Daganev2005-11-09 20:06:56
Then why do you see a problem with someone using a Cubix to take out poorly guarded nodes?

Actually, we had it confirmed that the guards near the Ravenwood were ordered to standguard permanent.
A lot of our guards are just horribly bugged, they don't do at all what they're supposed to. Guards that are supposed to respond to CFH don't, etc.
Ekard2005-11-09 20:18:32
I remeber when astral was scary!
You remebr those all deaths to lobstrosities, bull, goats and virgings!
They were scary cose people were low level, not things haev changed, people can reach 8k, in extream like 14k health.
We dont afraid of Astral anymore.

Daganev already said in another post that the guards in the tunnels were not on standguard permanent.

Sorry, Daganev can't order hags. The person who can and did order them stated that she placed them on standguard permanent.
Another note about those guards is that they liked saying, over and over and over, "I see no enemy here, I return to where I came..." and just staying where they were. It got pretty noisy. I think that was mostly stopped a couple days before this visit, but still... have I mentioned that I hate our guards?

He can, however, view nexus status, which would show the order arrangement.
And the talking they do is not unique to Glom guards, all guards currently do it. We have a set of frost hags that just won't shut up. However, they opperate as ordered as far as sg/sg permanet go.

order *guardnumber* standguard
A shadowlord widowrider nods at you and begins to stand guard.

I seem to remember his example having a lot of (G)'s in it, and being after the event. Are you positive that he checked beforehand and remembered whether or not every single one of those had a G?

I remember Daganev specifically saying that the guards in the tunnels were not on sg perm. because they were meant to "chase" attackers that got into the shopping area. I found this amusing.

Once again, Daganev can't order them. I actually thought they were on just normal standguard, but I also hadn't verified it (I should have checked, *shrug*). Doesn't change that the only person able to order them at the time said that she had ordered them to standguard permanent.
Daganev2005-11-09 20:52:27
So my information on the guards by the shops is from a time that I saw a few guards here and there and was asking why we placed our guards so poorly. Thats what I was told. Ofcourse after that conversation I never saw the guards save all together in a single group.
The guards in the tunnel would have been on patrol if my account of the story is correct, not standing in a group. So were the guards in a group or walking in a patrol?

What the hell people, stop derailing!
It's pathetic when a moderator himself derails the topic. Get back to the central issue, who cares about Glom's guards placement?

Incase you weren't following, the point was that the arguments being used to "make astral normal" are being used as double standards. i.e. Its bad for 1 person to ruin astral, but not bad for 1 person to ruin a commune/city.
Terenas2005-11-09 22:05:50
And in case you didn't read the options in the poll, it asked for a simple answer. Stop bringing Glomdoring in every single thread for crying out loud, we already have 5 or so, we don't need anymore.
Xenthos2005-11-09 22:08:59
But didn't you know, everyone wants to be in the Glomdoring... that's why we get so much attention!

Er, Narsrim has already pointed out how such analogies fail because the ease of undoing the damage is vastly different.
Richter2005-11-09 23:59:20
Aye, he did.
So who wants astral back to normal?
