Edit: No, you know what. Not even worth it. I have my opinions and you have yours. I'd much rather keep up this discussion then get into an argument.
Just to summarize though: I believe that everyone has emotions. Look at Nilfawhatsits on Nil, she is 'evil'/'tainted'/'crazy and into S&M' but she still loves. I don't really see how being unmerciful has to hinder love or compassion. Don't love your enemies and victims, do what you have to do, but I certainly love Glomdoring, love Viravain. You know? I don't believe it to be bad RP. Glomdoring's history didn't say that we were emotionless shells of mortals. I understand where you might see that though, since Rowena and Brennan don't exactly cuddle up and watch the bunnies bounce, together--But Viravain still has fond memories of Hajamin for protecting Her, right? And that's straight from Her helpfile.

Viravain rarely talked about Hajamin - I personally think that the helpfile was wrong with that.
Astraea2005-11-10 03:37:02
Don't the gods make their own help files? Sure, She might not care for him now, due to his being patron of Celest, but I mean, it isn't as if she or anyone in Glomdoring is incapable of being compassionate. I'm not saying we go save the baby seals and orphans, but I mean, we do have the ability to love, if we didn't there would be no engagements/marriages. There is a difference between being merciful in battle and being compassionate towards those who help and protect you. It's perfectly valid RP for a Shadowdancer in the Forest without Mercy. My views are only my own, but if they were anathema to Glomdoring, I would have been kicked out awhile ago.

Who? I don't remember any pacifistic Shadowdancers. Perhaps it is of the new ones, but I do not remember any who were remotely pacifistic.
To answer your question about "Who is the pacifistic Shadowdancer?" I'd have to say that honour belongs to my character. I have RPed her that way for a long time now and I intend to keep it that way.

Astraea, your views on what a Shadowdancer living in the forest with no mercy is like, amuses me.Â

Malicia, at one point or another, have you not objected to people who have never been a part of Serenwilde judging it, or its guilds roleplay? In fact, I'm almost positive you have. Even if you have not, the point remains the same - you obviously don't have the same knowledge of Glomdoring or the Shadowdancers, so you have no right to judge the roleplay of Astraea, or the other members mentioned.

I made a Shadowdancer alt once. Their novice advancement requirements sucked. So I left.
Viravain2005-11-10 04:42:06
How very fortunate for them, Guido.

Hey, just ask Gerald and Xenthos. When I'm not undermining the very fabric of the game I am quite a useful fellow to have around.

Until you get shrubbed.
Joli2005-11-10 05:32:57
That's what I thought until the evil one's latest alt got shrubbed.
It was nice having a mini-bunny follow me around.. until it turned into a bush.

Compassion != snuggles, goddamn it.
Isune won't go to Glomdoring because She hates the Taint. Understood? H-A-T-E-S. She thinks Compassion is KILLING the Tainted ones.
Yeeeeesh.

Yes the moondancers are definitly more harsh and evil than the shadowdancers. But what does that say about the Moondancers?
That they're more harsh and evil than the Shadowdancers?
Just a guess.

Isn't Isune half Viravain now? so maybe Viravain might want to go check on Her forest and bring Isune along for the ride?

Evil?
If wanting to lock up the loads of seekers we have in a dungeon with water slides and weed cookies and fun inflatable dragon pillows is Evil then I don't want to be good
Astraea2005-11-11 07:10:25
Compassion isn't always snuggles/massive displays of public affection. And hey, Isune is always nice to everyone, tainted or not. If She *absolutely* hated it, she would be all "Die!" and anyway, Glomdoring isn't even tainted -hide- -spew Glom-propoganda-

Hatred isn't all about shouting "Die!" at people.
Compassion has nothing to do with snuggles/massive displays of public affection. At all. In any form.
If you every actually tried to figure out IC what 'Compassion' meant, you'd find it means doing what you know is best for another, even if they disagree. The taint is bad, and those tainted are afflicted. The best way to help them is to kill them, repeatedly, and hope that through their many trips to the Fates, the taint seeps out of them.
At least, this is what Shorlen believes from what he's heard

None at all?
And just because I'm tai-Ohhh! You almost got me to say it! Sneaky sneaky!
'Course I'm not tainted. I'm pure. I'm like a Moondancer, except not.

I have loads of huggles for you, Astraea. You only have to ask...and maybe start calling Penelope "mom" haven't decided yet.

Actually, she sure seemed to be warming up to Glomdoring. Never once did Shayle get that H-A-T-E-S sentiment from Isune. In fact, she was quite clear that what was outside didn't matter much to her....and did mention that Celest had been acting...in a way she wasn't impressed with.
I'm not ruling out her coming to Glom completely. Not at all.
Astraea2005-11-12 20:05:48
Woo. Let's usher in a new age of Unmerciless Compassion.
