Does anyone know the gems in Lusternia, and what they mean? Like...a diamond might be purity or whatever... and...and COOKIES TO EVERYONE! -meow-
Shiri2005-11-16 03:33:02
Why would they mean anything? There's no canon on "interpreting" them.
Unknown2005-11-16 03:46:30
-shrug- I really wasn't asking for a "canon" on interpreting them. I was asking on people's thoughts of what each gem meant and/or symbolized. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that. Really didn't know how to put it. And they can mean things, for different reason like in a ritual.
silimaur2005-11-16 15:09:40
i personally have no idea what your on about with this whole gem thing...silimaur likes bloodstones though..
Richter2005-11-16 15:13:58
I have no clue. There aren't any meanings for it, if you want to take some real world stuff and run with it, sure. I mean, heck, we have different meanings for different roses even, but I was not aware that any of these carried over in-game.
Aiakon2005-11-16 20:48:36
Aiakon finds that powdered onyx cures incontinence. If that's helpful..?
Ialie2005-11-16 21:43:02
it would be neat if we.. assigned the gems to a month. Any jewelers want to get together and do this? Then we can have something like a Jade birthstone ring?
Shamarah2005-11-16 21:58:25
As far as I know, there's no meaning behind each gem, although it might be cool if someone created one.
Richter2005-11-16 22:03:59
Post it on the Merchant's guild or Dragon's Hoard Ialie, maybe get the opinions of jewelers in game?
Unknown2005-11-16 22:14:08
Jesus people, how do you think gems and rocks and colours get meaning? Make it up! .
In schools of occult mythology, you meditate on the object in question, focussing on it but not concentrating to hard. You just let it flow with you and see what images it induces. That is how you find meaning, at least on a personal level, in these sorts of things.
In game, I imagine you could make up what you want. Everything in Lusternia is open to interpretation and the best ideas form when people take what they are given as a building block and run with the story, weaving it together into something brilliant.

I think Lacostian's Order uses smoky quartz for meditative purposes. Otherwise, yeah, a birthstone would be coolio.
Ialie2005-11-18 10:28:10
Problem fixed. There are scrolls in ingame libraries to refer to of course called birthstones but I will show it here for anyone that is curious.
"Birthstones", By Ialie, Ays Tiyrl Lyreth (Page 1)
With careful research, mostly help from Nejii Talnara I've arranged
several gems, classifying them by birth month with the Astrological
Signs in mind. This scroll will enable those to choose the stone that
will be traditionally associated with their birth date.

Edit: Nevermind just did a search, I'm an idiot.
Ialie2005-11-18 10:40:17
What did you say? You attempted to question Ialie? The Jeweliest Jeweler of them all?!
Unknown2005-11-18 10:43:08
That's neat Ialie! I don't agree with being yellow beryl, but I still would love to see this IG!
Ialie2005-11-18 10:45:50
Yellow Beryl is rather pretty in its best forms.
Perfect for the bumblebee I would say. THe perfect sunny colour for friendship and society.
ALso! Worry not! You can find this information in game by just going to your local library!

Design us some fitting jewelry too please? *begs*
And again, I really love that.
Unknown2005-11-18 12:37:53
It's a colour of sickness. And urine.
Daganev2005-11-18 18:49:55
I just asked why the bloodstone was green. Then I did a search on the net and found that most bloodstone is ironically green.
