It has become clear to me from the Lusternia's Nature thread that many of us want the game's vision to be tightened and focused, that there are things some of us like that the Devs never hear about. Our playerbase here is very negative, and I'd like to give them an idea of just what we like about the game rather than constantly crying about the things we don't like.
The rules of this thread are simple. If you post a Negative point, you must post a positive point as well. The idea is simple. What do you love about Lusternia, what makes you come back? I know many of you are going to say 'the people' but I'd like for you to stay away from that. I'd like to know what about Lusternia itself beckons you. Communities aren't hard to come by, even good ones. Why are you here?
As a slight off topic note, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like to see a 'Warm Fuzzies' section of the forums. A place to thank those that right you, to give someone who made you feel happy a hug.
Positives
* Roleplay - One of Lusternia's strongest aspects is our enforced RP. It makes me happy and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
* Skill Selection - The ability to be different from other people in the same organization/class is a godsend. Please focus more on this, it can never be too diverse for me.
* Balance - I feel that the game is actually fairly well balanced. One of the reasons Knights are considered to be so much more powerful is because of how many artifacts they can use to strengthen themselves, which the other classes largely can't do.
* Variety - Lusternia's policy of 'Be different, dang it!' is refreshing. It's the only IRE game that isn't exactly like other IRE games except with a different setting. Keep this policy!
Negatives
* Experience Loss - Nothing irritates me more than being set back a level because I died. I don't have a problem with losing experience so much as losing levels. If one is going for Demigod/Titan but actually defends their city/commune, they're basically borked. It just isn't going to happen.
* Planes - These need work, as has been mentioned. They're very small, and there's not much to do on them.
* Bashing - There's not enough to bash! When the higher level players decide that clearing out lower level bashing grounds is the best way to make experience, there's a problem. Why not implement something similar to the Wilderness Maps except for bashing? Have the system detect the character's might and populate the map with appropriate critters (nonsentient!). Call them Reality Rifts or something. It's not that hard to think something up.
And there's my list as it currently stands. Anyone else care to add their two cents?

The constant name calling, and petty remarks exchanged between the Communes and Cities are a con to the game. Being jumped is a con.
The unique way the place is set up is a bonus, how you can keep skills even if you leave a guild are nice. The attacks arent weak, interesting histories. Infinite possibilities dependant on the players and the Gods.

+ I really enjoy the option of being able to gain levels through influencing, and not from bashing. Mindless bashing does not suit IC Peeka at all. I wish there were more options like this available.
+ I like the idea of the different planes, though Peeka doesn't have enough skills to go farther than ethereal yet. I would like to see more explorable areas with interesting quests that incorporate some of Lusty's history.
+ I like how diverse the skill choices are, and would love more.

Oh now! As Narsrim sad we have really low exp lose. I wanted to try to come back on Aetolia just for Pk as i never was enought experience in this metter to fight there. But after my first death, when i lost 60% of my exp, it was like:
DAMN!
QQ
Lusternia connecting...
Conglutinate is best skill ever!

As for bashing spots. Yes there is too little of them. Why?
1) Astral is dead, evryon who was hunting there move to prime plane.
2) More and more people coming and there isnt much more new bashing places.
We need more of them. But i really understand Divines that would like to add them but some people here on forum make them too busy for that !!!

But is there a constant state of war/conflict there?
I think I recall that in Aetolia you basically could only kill in landmarks spots.

You know as good as me that Aetolia is just boring!
It was like LANDMARKS SEASON: get this sand, get this butterfly, release them, get this note to Sphinx, ouch Zephy is here. I'm dead!
END of LANDMARKS:
Time to make some gold and get back lost exp!
In here i have a lot to do.
In my first days/months in here i was really newbie. I only had a year experience on Aetolia so i wasnt totally lost. Beside that it was little chaotic in here, i was trying to avoid fighting. So i just was quit Celestine that was hunting in Glomdoring and do comms and honors quest for gold. i made little fortuna with it and i get credits. Then there was 75cr for players from open beta! Best thing ever! i transed Planar! and lended some cr to trans Enchantments. I joined The Black Market and started to roleplay little merchant, enchantments and honors quest is amazing combination for income. When i get like level 60 Gruhk show me astral. It was really nice but as Imperian Merian i couldnt stand for 2 hits from lobstrosity. My hunting there was like hit, fly heal, repeat! If i had luck and any other lobos didnt come to this room after 5 minutes i moved to another lobstrosity! Ahh memories!
Damn i will stop now. I wanted to say that this place is just amazing but i started to write Ekards biography heh!
You can be anyone here!
Astraea2005-11-09 20:32:22
I REALLY like the roleplay of alignment. In Achaea, you had a stupid system. "Kill a child, you bad, you evil. Kill a zombie. Goood! You friend!" Here it's more like "Kill a child? Well that child was a tainted freak of a fae and it was corrupting everything it touched! Or Kill a zombie? Well..really don't have one for kill a zombie..but..huh. Ooh! Well, you could kill Rowena, and I'd view that as evil (or at least, bad)
I also like how the divine go out of their way to stress that they are not GOD OF. Because on Achaea, you'd have Pentharian saying "Good is this, I am Good, thus I am infallible" and then he'd go dormant, and another God of one part of Good or something would come along and be all "Good is this (Which is completely different from Penth's definition) and I am Good, thus infallible" Here, they are just aspects of their personality. For instance, Isune is compassionate. But not GOOD. She isn't defined by some strict and narrow definition of an ideal. She could sacrifice children and babies because they were..well..something that would make it alright for her RP. Meanwhile, when people would give hypothetical "Kill an orphan to save a billion orphans and give them all candy and be loved and save the world and end evil forever" They'd be like.. "No. Orphan good. Killing bad."
I also like how they make all the organizations not a certain ideal too. Evil people can live in Celest. They can be all I WILL RIP THE TAINTED INNOCENTS LIMB FROM LIMB (Of course you know, by Celest's standards, there are no tainted innocents, but still!)
We should all take a page out of Spock's (Mr. not Dr.) book. The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few. Yay Vulcans.
The only thing I don't like is well...
I would prefer an untainted Glomdoring (We don't even have to rename it Gloriana!) and for it to be City v. Commune. I just think that would be more interesting than Urban communities teaming up with their Natural counterpart. Sure, Celest and Serenwilde are both against the taint, but how awesome would an alliance be between FANATICAL-ANTI TAINT Serenwilde, and like... Egotistical-Yet-Untainted-Glomdoring.
But even though Glomdoring is tainted, I still love its RP and the whole "Dark Forest" idea.

I think Glomdoring have taked wrong way. It was up to people who joined it in first days what RP they will take. But its only my opinin. I didnt even had alt in there.
All what i know is from game or forums.
I hope that Glomdorin will be really forest without mercy.
I hope i will explain it ok.
Like when strongest rule! A bit anarchy in it would be great! No place for pacifists. Viravain have suited very well in this anarchi forest!
And Glomdoring would not need to be tainted and ally with Magnagora only becose they are tainted.
It should be shadow, dark forst not nesesary tainted.
Just my idea.

+++I -LOVE- the way everyone sticks to their RP...I just have to say much love for Magnagora and their hate of me, it is just so awesome! It is just so fun to be able to have on ideal, and KNOW somewhere, someone is your living breathing anti-thesis...and you can find them and argue till you EXPLODE!
---The only negative for me in Lusternia right now...is that water is often camped out, and alot of my novicec complain to me about having 'nothing to do' ,
But really there are no negatives for me, just stupid little things that have no consequence.
Another +++ Is that we all KNOW Lusternia will still be new and exciting, a few years from now, and the staleness thing is just non existent, something is always going on in the newsboards...

I enjoy how diverse the role play is in Lusternia. It brings about a new meaning to role playing, I believe.
I dislike the rogue life style being so one plane. Though, it comes with the territory I believe.
I dislike the constant struggle with no end in sight.
I enjoy how the Admin (Aka gods) can role play with the mortals (aka players).
I dislike people eavesdropping. *eyes someone in particular*

The administrators, in-game Gods, and the players in-game. It's nice to be able to police ourselves, have fun things, have a responsive staff working on the game, have interesting Gods...
Ideological conflicts in the game. It might be bad of me to say it, but it's fun to hate when you can hate in a game. Never fun to hate outside of a game... but I don't know, in a game it's fun. (ROAR, YOU ARE NOT GLOMDORING, THUS YOU ARE INFERIOR.)
Diversity! The ability to do pretty much whatever you want and be whoever you want to be (within obvious boundaries, of course).
PK. I know that the Admin are trying to be responsive and make the game fun for everyone... but I'm getting afraid of the amount of restrictions being put into place. However, I'd probably be afraid to log on if there were no restrictions in place. Just... please do not start making Insult PK Avenger-able. (I shudder when I remember Insult PK back in Achaea.)
I miss Flow, too.
Forums. Especially the Idiots section. I wish there was some way to make everyone get along and be happy and not complain so much about things... because really, this game is beautifully done.
That's all I've really got for now.

I love how questing and bashing actually mean something other than just xp and gold. You can't just do every quest you come across since it might actually be assisting the enemy or going against your own organizations' beliefs. It is also nice to see a broader reward for repeatedly doing things like comm and power quests, other than my own personal gain. There's always something to do, which makes for a refreshing change.
On the downside, since half the areas seem to be influence-able villages and people don't hunt there, there is a higher demand for regular bashing areas. But I think they'll strike a good balance eventually.
I like the forums, and I think they have done quite a lot for all the IRE games in general; they have allowed the players to communicate their concerns/thoughts to the administration much more effectively than in-game methods (like IDEA). Between the two I play I've seen Lusternia's staff being much more active in requesting feedback from players which, though I don't post a lot here, I do appreciate seeing.

What most players didn't know is that before the forums there was a thing simular to the forums. In Achaea it was called Elders, those players were selected by the Admin and had access to a special board for posting idea's and such, much like the forums are used for now. After the forums came about, all those special groups were dissolved.

From what I heard Elders was more like the "Idiots!" section most of the time. I think it was done away with a while before the forums came out too, but I forget... maybe that was something else.
Anyway I prefer the forums because it allows anyone to see what is going on even if they choose not to participate in discussion. Sure you get more people posting nonsense than if it were a select group of players, but you also get a broader range of opinion from old and new players alike.

I was an Elder in Achaea for a long time, back when they had it. It started off initially with good suggestions and great player input. It devolved into being largely ignored by the admin because (and fair warning here) specific players would highjack discussions for the purpose of improving their own characters. This, coupled with ad hominem attacks, quickly led to its dissolution.
It's been ressurected in Achaea, after a fashion, in the forums. There is a special invite-only section on game mechanics where players can comment on improvements/downgrades they'd like to see. It may be just human nature, but the personal attacks continue there as well...
