I've been ruminating on something lately.
I've spent a fair amount of time away from Lusternia, or half in it, for a while now. I used to play a lot, but never be very committed, God knows I've been around for longer than a lot of people, since open beta and wot.
Sekreh's RP is dead. When I started I was too new to Lusternia, and MUDs, and it went on for too long and I need a fresh slate. Not an alt, a new main.
So here's the deal: I want to do something in Celest. I like the inquisitor direction I hear it's been taking of late, and I've never really done any RP there. I'm considering starting a new character there, learning how to fight, investing some credits, getting a good system together/buying one/giving up and using Ethelon's and ultimately really playing Lusternia again.
So how do I get started? I'd love some recommendations, both on the combat side of things (How to start learning how to fight seriously, what the pros and cons are of each archetype (beyond the basics, I have been reading these forums and playing for a year), as well as just other things in that vein, skills etc.) as well as the RP side. I like the inquisitor idea, any thoughts on how that would fit in to Celest, how to develop that RP and make it make sense, and all that would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

Heh interesting that Taint Wars 3 - the mafia game Ibby and I are modding - has the opening scene and plotline along the Inquisitor theme/irradication of the Taint threat line, where the Taint is the victim. You could even check out the opening scene and death scences from there if you wanted, it MIGHT give you an idea or two if you're lucky.

If you want to play the Inquisitor role, a Celestine is perfect. The skills and the RP (i THINK) lends itself to it, depending on which Supernal you choose to follow. Ceren is a great example of an inquisitor-type Celestine. As far as races are concerned, I have no idea. I never really looked closely at races here.
Unknown2005-11-14 05:27:36
Note, however, that that is the only thing Ceren is a good example of. Period.

Go the holy warrior paladin inquiisitor/ adminstrator of the righteous smackdown....i have been tempted to do this and if i could totally redo murphy i would bring him in as a paladin cruscader and general righteous badass.

I .. JUST .... need ... badassweapons.
So, briefly jihacking: what should I be aiming for for human paladin wielding broadswords/rapiers? What stats should I aim for? If I were to artie up a pair of weapons, what base stats should I add with which weapon arties?
Murphy2005-11-14 08:23:41
Well from an RP and general fear persptive, nothing beats a hardcore damage warrior. I mean sure i do insane wounds and kill a lot of the higher tier fighters on bashbrains....but when i was a damage knight doing 2.5k in a single pulp, i was much more feared.
So that being saiud I would be going for a set of 180-130-153 or around about there for a good damage weapon thats not that hard to forge. If you want a much hareder stats to aim for go 200-120-143

Hm, both are runeable. Cute. I'm wielding 166/163/165 and 163/155/170 at the moment. They're definitely not able to have artie runes attached.
When I'm able to concentrate on fighting (2 more days until exams are over! Yayayayayay!) I'll be spending much, much time finding out what these weapons are capable of. But yeah, a pair of 180 damage broadswords, fear.

What were your racial stats? Level 80 human paladin with lowmagic and flex has 16 str. Think thats enough to bother with?

Celestine fighter? If you take tarot then definitly Aslaran. Amaru prefers Loboshigaru but seriously.. from the experience I've made you just need the speed. (Though if you're low level and can't tank I guess Lobo would be worth a try.
And -stay away from Merian-!! They are useless as guardian! They die faster than flies!

Its my firm belief that merian guardians die like flies because the majority of people you have to fight are ur'guard with lightning runes. Gah.
But yeah. Eq bonus, water regen and high(ish) int don't make for good Celestine fighters. I'd go for something which lets you hunt until around level 70 and then cut over to Lobo.

Opposite way around actually. Once you have the level to afford the con loss you should go for a speedy race. In most cases a fight always boils down to who is speedier. (In case of two somewhat equally skilled fighters).
Seriously, if you have tarot you can fling -alot- faster as Aslaran. That made all the difference in the world for me.
EDIT: Plus they have level 1 faster eq too so quickening/amissio rocked. Not sure how it is after the nerf though.

I don't think merian celestines will hinder fast enough to take on tanky ur'guard. If so: why isn't anyone one?
When were you aslaran? When you were Titan? Thats cheating

good celestine fighters are either tanky, or fast...
And morik, look around buddy there is -one- ur'guard with lighting runes (ixion)
Also, 16 str is ok for a damage knight, I have 180 damage flails and i go alright when i want to be a damage knight with 14 str as a faeling. I reccomend you go like taurian, orclach (nice celestian RP there that would be awesome to see) or krokani, or another race with 15-16 base STR. Even dracnari make ok damage knights (14 str base).
The damage as you get hihger in str tapers off. This means that there is more difference in damage dealt from 12 str to 15 str, than there is from 20 str to 23 str.
As a dracnari you'd get a decent surge, good int and 14 str, which would equate to 17 str after your flex and geburah, which would put you in a place where you can dish out the pain
Ekard2005-11-14 15:18:36
Merian Lord would be nice damage knight, but lightnig and fire hurts!
I changed on Igasho cose Ixion and Daeovos hurted too much.
Now i'm human for exp boost and nice stats, and to forge faster, as Igasho i was damn slow.

Ashteru2005-11-14 15:24:45
Igasho is very good...although a bit better for casterclasses since their equilibrium isn't as slow as their balance. And if you are a reasonable high level, you won't have to worry about mana either.
Unknown2005-11-15 01:49:46
I was working on the whole wounding knight thing but since i just got my 360 damage sword damage knight might be a good change. Would you guys think fire runes are a waste of credits or should i invest in lightning?. If you want to go Celestine (everyone says we need more since the paladin incline) i would definatly say aslaran, tanky may be good but with faster equilibrum and level 2 balance you will be close to keeping them prone and out of the way all the time with your angel just on anorexia kneel and paralysis and you whoring aeon and hangedman.
Hajamin2005-11-15 05:34:51
If you want to know about weapon stats, you must speak with the god of forging... Melanchthon. Though he'll probably need to retest after recent changes, he can tell you the best stats for what you are going for.

Base human stats at level 80 paladin:
Sir Morik Whitbaum, Disciple of the Dove
Strength : 14 Dexterity : 14 Constitution : 14
Intelligence : 13 Size : 12 Charisma : 12
And I have lowmagic (for herbs), so thats 16 str.
How would Orclach be good Celestian RP? Orclach were always the 'traditional' UrGuard, although if the Paladins were less of a peacetime enforcer and had more of an asskicking squad..
